Maybe staged, respectively disagree on tactics. Thugs I represented would want immediate escape route that was visibly clear of witnesses.

Dragging him back in convinced me it was staged.

Nor should she. She was trained well. Eliminate the threat. As in, until the threat is fully knocked out or you can safely escape, and escape in an elevator is not an option.

good for her.

Every thread like this, there are always those who say it was staged. Unless it's a body cam video of a perp taking a few 9mm rounds-- it's staged! Roll Eyes

Of course. He waited for the door, however, as most muggers so, to give himself and escape route as he snatched the backpack. When the elevator is moving, BOTH parties are locked in. Thieves always run.

Having a Nidan Black Belt in Judo, and a Shodan in Ju-Jitsu, I think I have a good sense of what is real or fake.

^^^ I agree. With his right arm he is trying to keep her in the elevator, and with his left hand trying to hit the "hold door" button so he can grab her backpack, cell phone, and run. He has probably done this before.

But she grabs his right forearm with her left hand, and with her right she grabs his right hand, bending it down and twisting it. Once she locks that, she jams her left hand on his right elbow and pushes him down to the floor. If that sounds complicated, you can learn to do it reflexively, just as she does, by hundreds of repetitions.

Look at what you can see in the reflection and you will see her straight punches landing on his face and head, and she bangs his head on the floor, along with a couple of kicks.

When he tries to lurch out the door, she grabs him and pulls him back to kick his ass some more-- then she chases him. Is this traditional martial arts protocol? She's pissed! Big Grin

That's what I see. I've trained in various martial arts all my life. But if you think it's staged-- anything is possible, and I have no need to try to change your mind.

Umm, folks, watch it again, and if you still think it's real, I have a beach front property in the Sahara for cheap. Girl is having the backpack on. It's just no way he was going to get that backpack. And her purse is on the far side from the "criminal". That's just almost impossible to snatch and run in that situation. Roll Eyes

Now, as the door opened, do you see him making any attempt to snatch anything? He actually lunged forward, with his right arm trying to block her from getting out. Case closed. Big Grin

Yep, my favorite part too. Smile Don't beat a man when he's down they say? I don't think so.

You saw the video and you know how things turned out, but he didn't see the video. He saw a small girl and paid no attention to her black belt. Not knowing that she was going to hand him his ass, he thought he could hit her and grab what he wanted. A common way to perform a grab and run. He just had to press that "hold door" button. Oops, she didn't let him get that far, did she? Big Grin. Razz

Bad stage, too. If you want people to believe it's real, at least attack while the elevator was still going, not when it stopped, and the door was already opening

12131, that is just wrong. While the elevator is moving would be the worst time to attack. If he were successful, the door then opens and--what? Witnesses standing there? Someone who will pursue him? What you require to convince you it was real would actually earmark it as fake.

"It's just no way he was going to get that backpack. And her purse is on the far side from the "criminal". That's just almost impossible to snatch and run in that situation."

Does it occur to you that if this were set up, the "props" would be better placed? Watch obvious fake YouTube attacks (there are many) and you will see this every time. He would try to grab the purse that was right there, and she would counter attack. Life, reality, is not perfectly set up.

I have acknowledged that of course there is the possibility that this was staged. Could it be staged? Sure.

But to you it is impossible that this might be real, and I find that kind of thing interesting in these threads. There was a recent one of a Russian man decking three antagonists. Again, could it possibly be faked? Yes. Did it seem to be faked? It looked totally legitimate to me and most others.

But there too those who thought it was fake seemed to have some kind of need I don't understand to insist it was fake. What's up with that?

If it's that important to you-- okay. "Fantasy Island." Roll Eyes

justjoe, sounds to me to me like you're just pissed off because there are folks who disagree with your expert analysis of the martial art moves, since you have such vast experience ("I've trained in various martial arts all my life"). So there are folks who think it was staged. By your own admission, it could have been staged. So, what's the big deal, coming in with your eyes Roll Eyes ???

"But to you it is impossible that this might be real" - Well, no. I never said "impossible". I said "staged", that's it. But, I don't need to qualify it with, "Oh, sure it could be real". Anybody with half his brain tied behind his back (thanks, Rush) knows that it could be either way. You see it one way. Other folks see it the other. You said, "I have no need to try to change your mind." Yet, you came back trying to make your case. It's a stupid video on YouTube that could be anything. Why take it so serious? Always some expert guys on here ruining it for everybody. Razz

Btw, I'm not coming back to this thread trying to change anyone's mind. I'm taking my balls and go home. Big Grin

That was dumb. Why would any dipshit wait until the door opens, when there could be people around, to "grab" the girl.

Pretty fake, IMO
