That's a harrowing story! Glad you're going to get your improved retirement and are in a decent environment in your new work spot. One thing that stood out to me in your story was your having had the opportunity to lose that much extra poundage which will be will no doubt be a huge benefit to your fully enjoying your actual retirement. Very glad you had a strong union to back you up! Thanks for sharing your story.

Relying on God and recognizing your pride in the depths of a harrowing situation is when Jesus will intercede and impose His Will during our earthly battles. Congratulations on your victorious outcome!

Retirement now just 10 work days away…

I am getting excited as I have just two weeks of work left before my official retirement in good standing.

My last work day will be July 12, but I am going to squeeze a three week vacation in before my last week at work. The time has flown by pretty quick.

I am probably prouder than I should be that in the 10 calendar months that I will have been reinstated, I will have worked just 113 of 201 scheduled work days (55%) during my return.

The break down on the other 88 days...

22 Paid Admin days while negotiating my return to work
27 Paid Sick days (all but 2 for my knee replacement- returned sick leave and some time covered with vacation hours)
11 Paid Sick days (knee replacement- State paid FML plan)
2 Unpaid Sick days (Waiting week- State paid FML plan)
17 Vacation days
9 Days Leave of Absence (prearranged on my return to work, no leave avail to cover)

I work next week, then have three weeks off, spending two of them in Africa. Come home to my last week, and then it is done.

Stay tuned for the epilogue…

If this were a movie, you’d get eaten by a lion.

I pray that doesn’t happen and you instead enjoy many years of retirement.

Enjoy you vacation to Africa.

Hopefully, it's only 9.5 work days and you get to leave after lunch on your last day.

Great followup to what was mostly a bureaucratic mess. I love a happy ending!

I’m not sure how I missed your post last fall, but I’m glad you updated and I had a second chance to see it.

I hope you’ve been able to keep the weight off, sure make recovery from that knee easier. All the best in retirement.
