I’m with you all the way for egg beaters. I used one to beat the eggs in my postings. They’re seldom found in stores nowadays. Amazon has a few, but my old egg beater is better than than the Amazon offerings. Mine has its handle on the side, opposite the crank (rather than on the top), a configuration I prefer. Finding a suitable egg beater became a pleasant minor new hobby. I've tried modern versions which have all failed to satisfy in some way or another. Periodic journeys to the kitchen gear in thrift stores have revealed an astonishing range of design features. A corollary perhaps, to the infinate variety of recipes and personal tastes. The past decade such treasures are harder to find. **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

re the linked product: I bought a new one very similar although out of some French importer. It looked nice and worked well, except ~for me~ the beaters were too small in diameter and the gearing was way too slow for my egg duty. Probably was just fine for heavier loads. On a side note, the old fashioned granny era beaters, have a wide variety of design features. The best ones have an actual ball bearing crank shaft and a wooden top handle, are of a certain size and do not give the impression of cheaply stamped tin/whatever. The crank will be tight & not excessive play, just like a wheel bearing on your utility trailer. The good ones have a complex beater blade that has some type of bevel instead of just a flat metal strip. Many of what is out there these days look like cheap toys rather than an actual kitchen tool. Etc. If you can find a "good" one for under $15 grab it. **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

At $85, that egg beater is way over priced IMO. I paid less than $10 for mine (US-made), which I like better. Admittedly many years ago, but still… Serious about crackers
