I respectfully disagree. They are protesting and picketing, not threatening him or burning his house down. They are doing so publicly. They are holding him to what he professes is his own standard. Whitehouse is a raging radical liberal who throws bombs out without regard to where they land, or the truth of them. He holds himself out as a champion of the radical left. The radical left is now demanding that he live his words, and I am fine with that. I have a lower tolerance for hypocrisy than I do for murder. He made this bed; he will now lie in it. If he wants the heat to go away, he can: (i) resign from those old money white Rhode Island institutions; (ii) resign from the Senate; (iii) vocally stand up for his right to free association and dare BLM to criticize a strong supporter; or (iv) issue mealy mouthed denials, make deflecting comments that there is diversity, but certainly not enough, and "pledge to do better". I know which one he will choose. When your enemy gives you the mechanism to roast him, do so. When one of your enemies roasts another of your enemies, sit back, make popcorn and enjoy the show. Really?  I absolutely see Artie's points and I'm not sure I disagree with them. However, BLM is well known for showing up and going a bit further than just protesting (see a full year of riots, theft, and assault in 2020), which is why so many people are terrified of them. Most membership golf clubs in America have a thorough vetting process for new members - including comprehensive reference checks, mandatory active participation in club sponsored events, and of course, some steep initiation and annual dues that can start at 5K and in some cases, blow well past 100K annually. Yacht clubs can be similar. If the individual that was denied membership met the required criteria and had the $ to join - there could certainly be a case of discrimination. | |||

The operative word in “social justice warrior” is warrior. They are in this the exert their will on other people. It is the ridiculous fight that they are there for, not any specific goal. Unfortunately for them, it only works on people/corporations who allow themselves to be coerced (they have no real power over anyone willing to ignore them).
