sns3guppyMV-22 Crash
A V-22 from my son's unit just crashed in Syria. No fatalities, aircraft destroyed.

corsairBrown-outs are a real problem with that platform, aircrew has to be on their toes during landings. For the all the capability that this aircraft has, it's a real sonofabitch for the passengers in the back: everything has been buttoned down and secured, goggles tighten-up and loose straps tucked/stowed.

RNshooterReally cool machines. They look like they shouldn't be able to fly. They couldn't, at first.
They should have named it "Albatross" instead of "Osprey"

but I still like watching them.
Glad everyone is ok.

RAMIUSI've been in one on two occasions. The sheer amount of wall to wall stuff is absolutely mind blowing. Every single inch of the inside is covered in wires and important looking things.

arabiancowboyGlad to hear no one died! The aircraft is going to get destroyed; I think all of our (AFSOC) CV-22s that have crashed have been total airframe losses; it's a mostly composite frame and easily sustains damage. I'm really glad your son is safe and no one was killed.

220-9erThey cost $72+ million a copy, a terrible safety record and were built largely because of political considerations.

ShaqlFirst they said "hard landing" and then later they refer to it as a crash.
Those can be totally different in action and outcome...
