Admittedly, Washtenaw County is the home of Berkeley East...Ann Arbor.

Some clips from the article

"Dyer wrote on her campaign website that she will prioritize “diversity” and “inclusivity” in the hiring process. She lamented that “the Sheriff’s Office is predominantly male, white, and not representative of our LGBTQ+ population” and vowed to ensure “that hiring practices are inclusive.” "

"“The last thing I want is officers out here sleep-deprived with a gun, angry, driving around. No one wants that,” Dyer added. "

You just can't make this stuff up. Elections do have consequences.

Lets see, the LGBTQ population is usually around 2% of the total population. I guess it stands to reason to assure 50% of of the department is LGBTQXYZ

Rarely have I heard such absolute bullshit from a sheriff. If I was working at WSO, I would be looking to bail.

It's known as the "People's Republic of Ann Arbor" Republicans, even moderate Dems, need not apply.

Other agencies are hiring. Other states are paying good transfer bonuses.

The good officers will leave. The community will suffer. But, they voted for this.

Places like Portland have tried and failed. The thing about communism is that although it never works, the belief is that it just needs to be tried more.

Thanks.

Grew up my whole life "aware" of the "Red Threat" and the attempts during many years of people trying to convince me the "right" was paranoid, delusional and the real threat.

All that has done has entrenched me firmly into realizing my belief that the threat was real was not in vain.

It is an insidious and destructive sickened mindset.

Columbus Ohio PD was like that 35 years ago. I was born and raised in Columbus and everyone I knew wanted to be a State Trooper, Firefighter or on the PD. Few got on unless you had a hook.

Columbus OH PD was DEI before it became a thing.

Time to move. Lots of great counties in Michigan that aren't like that, or come join us south of the border. It's flat and boring, but at least we're not communists!

Some context:

Ann Arbor, Michigan is home to the University of Michigan, so that's why A² is the way it is.

Washtenaw County also includes Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, so a double-whammy.

And it's the next county west of Wayne County, in which deep blue Detroit is located.

Sadly, the more densely-populated, mostly urban areas are beginning to run the state, much like in California and elsewhere.

Hard for my wife and me to do at this stage in our lives, and with all we have invested in our home, but we've discussed leaving the state entirely.

Somewhere I've a list of candidate states.

It might help if the Michigan GOP wasn't worthless as teats on a boar hog Frown

I feel bad that you guys have to put up with that. I love Michigan, particularly the northern and western portions. Just like California, liberals for some reason always have to pick the beautiful places to ruin.

Yeah, Michigan was, to me, the perfect state. Or at least as close to perfect as you'd be likely to find this side of Heaven Wink (And yes: I have lived elsewhere for comparison.)

We get cold and snow, but, most seasons it's more-or-less tolerable cold and snow in much, if not most of the state.

Yes: It can get hot and humid in summertime, but, like the winter cold and snow: It's mostly tolerable heat and humidity for most of the state, most of the time.

We're at the NE end of "tornado alley," so, while we do get tornadoes, truly bad ones are relatively rare.

We don't get hurricanes, massive floods, devastating earthquakes, or volcanic eruptions.

There are the occasional wildfires, mostly in the north woods. But nothing like other parts of the country experience.

Our worst bugs, up until ticks became a problem, were mosquitoes and deer flies, really.

Oh, and surrounded by, and riddled with, fresh water lakes.

Neither the least expensive state in which to live, but far from the most expensive.

So: Four seasons, relatively moderate weather and other natural environmental conditions, and it was a more-or-less "red"-ish state.

Until about 2008. Now it's turned distinctly purple, trending towards blue Frown

We may have to leave. I don't want to live in Midwest California.

Was it “DEI” or did you just need a phone call/Chinaman/Wack/Juice/Rabbi ?
Meaning- were they hiring people because they were gay, black, club-footed, cross eyed, dwarfs?
Or did they hire the cross eyed, gay dwarf because he had the Mayors phone number?
