Need to have shipped three or four. My elect. said to order from lowes. He thought they were around $35 dollars. I see some under $30 but not sure it they are junk. He is a bit finicky but does not do the computer thing much. Any thoughts on decent or better ones in that price range.

Lowe's could work, as could Home Depot. Costco has some fixtures as well - I've used these in the past.

An alternative - Amazon

Decide if you want the bulbs exposed or with wraparound diffusers.

I replaced two 8' fluorescent units with two 4' LED units from Costco (and turned them 90 degrees from the older ones) in Dad's garage. Much nicer lighting and no humming.

I put in Honeywell's in my shop abut 3 years ago. I really like them, but I can't remember how much they were.

Do they need a cord or hard wired in? If a. Cord, I like the lights in the link below. I strung a set together in my basement above my exercise equipment. Nice and bright.

I bought some from Amazon, around 35.00 apiece, I just went by star ratings. They worked out well.

I used these from Amazon when setting up my shop. I used sealed units to keep the dust out.

I am pretty happy with them

Here's an idea of the quality of light I get on the bench

I had a couple of the Utilitech 4' LED shop lights from Lowe's in my garage. They both died over one winter. If your shop is heated or you don't drop below freezing in the winter where you are then they are fine. Otherwise check the reviews.

Never use Utilitech lights, they are complete garbage.

Yes, that's all our Lowe's carries so I'd suggest ORC ignore the contractor's suggestion and go elsewhere.

If my one experience with Utilitech bulbs was any guide: Possibly dangerous, too.

I bought a set of LED bulbs to replace the incandescent bulbs over the mirror over my vanity. Turned them on and let them run for a bit. Walked past the bathroom and *sniff* *sniff*... "Is something burning?!?!" Sure enough: One of the bulbs was hotter than a two-dollar pistol and was blackening.

Took them back and told the returns clerk "I wouldn't put these back on the shelf if I were you. Not unless Lowe's is looking for a lawsuit." She seemed unfazed.

If that's all your Lowe's carries then I agree 100%. I'll never again buy another Ultilitech anything.

But the Lowe's by us does carry some other brands of bulbs and fixtures. I bought LED replacement bulbs for the four-foot fixtures in our garage from Costco. One of the fixtures would run for a while, then shut down. I bought a new non-Utilitech fixture that was LED-compatible from Lowe's and it's been right ever since.

Btw: Costco sells complete fixures, with bulbs. I don't know if they're any good, but the bulbs I bought 2-3 years back seem to be.

I did 4 foot strip lights and put LED tubes in them. The fixtures were around 30 bucks each and the bulbs were around 10 each. Mine came from Depot but Lowes will have the same.

That's what I have. I got mine at Sam's Club. They can daisy chain up to 5 lights on a single receptacle.

I have the BJ's ones, and they are good. I have also clipped the ballasts out of existing lights, re-attached the wiring, and used led tubes in old fixtures.

Just because you can,
doesn't mean you should

Get some fluorescent T8 or T5 fixtures and remove the ballast.
Rewire (very simple) for no ballast-power one end LED bulbs.
