Best way to get oil off a driveway
After a botched repair recently, my car was leaking oil. So now my previously spotless driveway has oil drips. I know there are several products out there. Anyone have experience with one they had results with?

Kitty litter.

Problem is, if it’s outside, rain washing it away. It has to sit there for some time to soak it up. But, when it works it’ll completely take it away.

I used to throw on some powdered Oxy Clean on the garage floor and worked well enough for me, but not sure how porous your concrete is.

Powdered dish washer soap. Put it on the oil, work it in with a broom and rinse it off. Has always worked for me.

Concrete or asphalt?
You can use kitty litter on either. Rub it in good with your feet and leave it for a few hours.
On concrete you can use some detergent and chemicals that you can’t use on asphalt.

Tide with bleach. Dry scrub it for a few minutes, and leave fora day or two. Rinse off.

Timely, I changed the oil in our Expedition today (a rant for another day) and the oil filter drain tray flows the opposite of what it seems. Ended up with a nearly 12" dia puddle before I noticed.

Threw some cheap kitty litter on it, but we're due for rain the next few days.

Used it on both stone and mortar joints. Works like a charm. It does leave some kind of efflorescence behind, but that can be fixed with time/traffic/rain or pressure washer. It will also leave the area slightly lighter so if your work space is generally stained you may need to pressure wash the entire area or wait for the now clean spots to build up gunk to match the rest. I was shocked at how effective it was. Especially since it was cleaning up pneumatic oil which stains like crazy and smells horrible.

This and mineral spirits. One of the Jr DFs left black diesel oil stains on my driveway. When his truck was finally gone, I soaked the stain in mineral spirits and set a generous portion of kitty litter on it for a few days. Got most of it out. Re-applied spirits and litter for another few days. Stain is gone.

Make sure to get the cheap CLAY non-clumping kitty litter. Most of the stuff sold now has very little clay. I spilled ATF all over my garage from a slow leak from a log splitter and out of a complete aisle of maybe 40 different cat litter choices, I found 2 options that were simply all clay old school kitty litter. I left it on there for a week because I wasn't in a hurry and it really soaked that stuff up something fierce, I was impressed.

Cheap clay kitty litter and then do the flight line shuffle (ie. Grind it in with the soles of your boots by shuffling your feet)

!00LL Avgas. Don't bother trying auto gas; it won't lift the stain.

Sun and rain will make it go away, eventually. I accidentally dumped the entire sump of an FJ40 engine on the driveway once (~8 quarts). Engine was on a stand and I failed to drain it before rotating the engine (duh). I hosed it off right away, and again for a couple of days following. You cannot tell now.

the kitty litter method works pretty well. There are also a bunch of OTC products, some great, some not so much.

The best product I've found for spot removal is this one.

Recently saw a video of a guy using a weed burner to burn it off. Looked like it worked pretty well.

That's a good idea too. I've got some, it's just 90 minutes away with my Midget in my dad's shop.
