Desmond had a unique sound. He once equated his sound to a dry martini. Part of it is atributed to the small tip opening mouthpiece and hard reeds that he used, more in line with a classical setup.

Their drummer (Joe Morello) was incredibly talented too.

saw him years ago at an outside venue on the James, band was playing, cannot remember what song, and a train came by, they changed tempo to match the click clack of the train, shortly afterwards there was a thunderstorm on the far horizon (behind the stage) to far to get any sound but a neat light show watching the lightning in the clouds in the distance overall an excellent show, my dad was big fan, I have his vinyl copy (I was maybe 2 when it came out) and his big ole Zenith stereo record player in a big black lacquer cabinet, still works and that album still sounds great on it https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Dave Brubeck's brother was our high school music director. We got several concerts a year in the 60s. Very nice live performances. He always had a extra sit in performer. I remember T. Monk and others. __________________________ "He should have armed himself if he was going to decorate his saloon with my friend" Clint Eastwood in 'Unforgiven'
