I can name a handful off the top of my head of the military brass that were willfully complicit in the clumsy and embarrassing withdraw out of Afghanistan. Looks like new SECDEF Hegseth is going to start bringing the pain to the decision-makers.
I know we have members that were involved with this whole saga, I'll let them comment with their first-hand experience with how things went down and the asinine decisions & actions that were made during the months/weeks/days involved.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that he has already picked investigators who will look into the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.
“We’ve already identified folks that’ll be in charge of that full investigation inside the Pentagon,” Hegseth said in the interview Thursday.
“I don’t have a timeframe on it. Sadly, we’ve already waited two-and-a-half years, three years since what occurred. I don’t want to wait longer, but I always want to get it right,” he said.
In July 2021, the Biden administration launched a chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops and embassy officials from Afghanistan that led to the deaths of 13 U.S. service members in a suicide bombing at the Kabul International Airport’s Abbey Gate.
In addition, hundreds of Americans were left behind, despite the administration touting the withdrawal as successful and bragging about conducing the largest withdrawal in history. On its way out, the U.S. military conducted a strike meant to target the suicide bomber, but ended up killing an aid worker and his family instead. Then-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley touted it as a “righteous strike.”
No leader was held accountable or fired. Only Marine Col. Stuart Scheller, who demanded accountability in a viral video, lost his career. President Donald Trump appointed him as senior adviser to the Defense Under Secretary for Personnel and Readiness.
Hegseth said accountability is coming.
“The way you establish real accountability is by establishing real fact chains — chains of events, information, what happened. Why did it happen? Who made the decision? What was the reason they made that decision? Why did they give advice or not give advice? Why did they execute an order a certain way? Did they speak up when they were supposed to or not? I don’t think there’s anybody that feels like there’s been an honest accounting of what happened in Afghanistan. That’s our job,” he said.
“So, we’re going to drive that full investigation and get a sense of what happened. And as I stated to the workforce on Friday, I guess less than a week ago, accountability will be coming for what happened in Afghanistan, and that’s important to reestablishing trust at the Defense Department,” he added.

And China has one, of everything for reverse engineering, as well as, mineral rights to the largest deposits of lithium in the world. In addition to the loss of personnel during the exit, this is the single intentional act of treason by the Biden Admin.

You assume much by assuming so little. Clearly the Biden Admin hated America, AND hated Americans, so let's not jump to any conclusions just yet. Their capacity to do evil was quite breathtaking and there's a whole lot of layers to the onion yet to be revealed. Trump's Team is just getting started and if I'm a betting man, we've only seen the tip of the iceberg.

I was in Afghanistan a number of years prior. all those senior officials that cited bar graphs and pie charts that supported an opinion that Afghan national forces like army and police were solidifying and “with just a bit more time and money can be trusted to function independently without U.S. support” need to be taken to task as well. The primary role for my unit at the time was the equipping and training of ANA/ANP units, and despite our best efforts any of our embedded training teams could tell you how out of touch those data points were. Our entire COIN ( counterinsurgency) program was based off flawed concepts that simply were not grounded in reality. An approach that worked to some degree in Iraq ( you can debate this too- I was there as well) was not going to work in Afghanistan with a different culture terrain history and demographic of people, but the senior brass took a one size fits all approach that utterly failed.

In a way, was a no-win situation. We couldn't stay there forever. We were unwilling to conquer, occupy and pacify it in the manner of Japan. There was no scenario I can think of that didn't eventually have the Taliban retaking it. They still didn't have to be handed it on the proverbial silver platter.

^^^ My guess is those used by the military for guard duty, tracking, bomb sniffing and so on. Dogs are regarded as "unclean" animals in Islam, so you can guess where it goes from there. At the very least they'll be left to fend for themselves and go feral. This message has been edited. Last edited by: egregore,
