We have been wanting to visit this area for a while and with flights cheap ones the time. What’s open as far as tourist or must do things?

Seriously, I have friends in both places and they are both considered hotspots for Covid right now. When I lived in San Antonio the mission tour was interesting, the Alamo was a disappointment and the Riverwalk was just beginning as a tourist spot. Huge military presence in San Antonio along with largest Air Force medical center. Mexican food is excellent in both places.

Texas metro areas have seen a spike in Covid cases recently so I'm going to guess Austin/SA are about like DFW in that businesses are now required to enforce a mask mandate. Not only that but I don't know what hotels/resorts are open.

Coming from someone that lived in the area for a while see if you can find a deal on flights in the mid/late October time frame. Weather is much better and there are a ton of things to do, both in the city and in the Hill Country nearby.

As for things to see/do in San Antonio:
-Misson Tour
-Alamo
-Lost Maples State Natural Area
-Braken Cave (home to a swarm/flock/herd/murder? of Mexican Freetail bats)
-Fredricksburg, TX (old German town in the Hill Country)
-Flores Country Store in Helotes, TX for some live Texas country music outdoors

Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

Complacency sucks…

Gov. Abbott just ordered all bars to close again and reopening has been stopped at current levels. We could see more things closed soon. Cities and counties are putting mandatory mask restrictions in place. Probably not the best time to visit.

And some other weird things closed as well, like tubing and rafting businesses.
