dbgeekhow long do you give it before you contact your tax prepare person
Our accountant automatically files for extension if he think it’ll be close to the deadline. We just let him do his thing.

Here's what I learned from being part of project teams. When there's something to be done and someone commits to doing it, you also get a commitment when they expect to complete it and what's a reasonable date for a status check to make sure there's no hold up.
And when I ask for when they expect to be done, I tell them I'm not trying to hurry them up, I just want to plan the schedule accordingly.

corsairLong time friend is an EA with his own firm, I try to get my packet to him before the end of Feb. If I've not heard back by 30-days I'll reach out, so far his office reaches out and notifies if things are slow or, any hang-ups.

old rugged crossHeard from our preparer and they are done. It took a while this year. But they did what they always do. Got them done.
I may forget my thoughts of finding another preparer next year.
All good
