Want a real crisis? Have some new virus with the transmissibility of the common cold virus and the hardiness of the Hepatitis B virus, but with the mortality rate of the rabies virus. Now, that will be a real crisis with a real possibility of civilization's end. Otherwise, this is a bullshit crisis. Most folks that have the virus will get better.

Hell, Most people that get the virus won't even know they have it. The "stealth carrier", cant even know you have it unless tested. Wow that makes sense feel perfectly healthy but get tested. FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Lets not forget each and every day there are 100's of thousands of people that are susceptible to death from even the common cold. (Chemo patients). DO we shut down the entire country for them or do you do the sane thing and keep them isolated from "bugs"?

Here in the Northeast we are approaching full blown retard.

^^^^ Yes, and people are freaking out about Italy when literally 99% of the dead there had a pre-existing health condition.

The truly interesting thing about Para’s point is all of the frequent flyers in the big thread seem to avoid Para’s posts like it is the was the plague.

I'm with Para. Sucks now but this is going to backfire bigtime on the dems.

Yup, another guy here that agrees with Para. This is all BS and theater. If Obama were still president this would barely be a blip on the radar...just like H1N1 was.

The governor of California has just quarantined his entire state. Roll Eyes

This idiotic hysteria, this sheer panic, and NOT the virus, is the most dangerous component in our lives right now. People can focus on, split hairs, and argue all day about data, stats, curves, until they're blue in the face. and at the end of the day, when this virus becomes yesterday's news, with the aftermath and the damage still left behind, folks will eventually wonder "what the fuck just happened to our country?", with millions of lives turned upside down.

Couldn’t agree more, which why I’ve been arguing about the data using logic, in an attempt to slow the hysteria others are trying to create either intentionally or through stupidity.

They are only concerned about themselves. This is typical of emotional retardation. Lack of concern for others is a sure sign of childishness. Having aged passed childhood physically but not emotionally makes them developmentally retarded. Not only that but for ostensibly educated people they are remarkably inarticulate and unable to assemble logical sequences. How can we have hope for the future of this society if these are the 'educated' among our number? No wonder they fall for scams like socialism. They are nothing more than simpletons erroneously convinced of their erudition. It is insult to injury to be vulnerable to these mutton-heads.

Very well-said!

Yup! I was going to take my family to New Smyrna Beach today. Myself, my wife and two kids. All of us needed the feeling of sand between our toes, to hear the sound of the water. It would do SOOOOO much to bring down anxiety levels.

I packed the car last night around 5pm. Around 7pm Volusia County announced they are closing the vehicle access ramps this morning.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like we are only going to prolong the problem by shutting things down and everyone staying home/out of work. As long as this virus is able to live outside of a host, we can't keep everything shut down indefinitely. It is insanity to think this can go on and on. More cases are going to show up and people will get sick. I am hoping for the best but if this goes on, we will be doomed by a massive crush to our economy and lifestyles.

As heck, go back to the founding father’s approach - only landowners get to vote. If you are serious, studious, and hardworking enough to own land by eighteen, you can vote at eighteen. Pay no property tax, cast no vote. Never happen, but it would do away with this let them vote at sixteen BS.

IMO they are going too far shutting down anything (except for schools. Schools are petri dishes. I have four kids, and they bring everything home. I'm glad they're off school right now). Tell people to stay home as much as possible, wash their hands, and not cough on each other. If you're old or immunodeficient and worried about catching it, stay home. It's your choice. Nobody's making you go out. If you're a small business owner and want to close because you're afraid of the virus, or due to reduced business because everyone is staying home, go ahead. Nobody's making you stay open. But we should let the market decide what services are "essential"...we don't need to pass sweeping mandates and destroy the economy.

This is new?

Once again, I reiterate that all this "social distancing" stuff is only so much theater. You can call me crazy, but the only reason we're going through this stupid shit right now is because a Republican is in the White House.
I don't care whether anyone agrees with me on this. Really, I don't.

On the reason if you are saying it's being done otherwise he'd be crucified then I agree.
I don't think this is Trump's first choice is it?
