Emil turned 80 last year.
Still has 24 head Angus. Refuses to retire.
Numerous ailments has him moving at the speed of
turtle.

He says he enjoys it, no vacation in 15 years.
Have never heard him bitch moan whine or complain, but that's in
mixed company.

I gotta believe that there have been moments similar to these,
out in the field, when others are not around.

Effin' cattle. We've leased our family ranchland for decades for cattle grazing. It keeps our ag tax status, and allows us to afford the land & keep it in the family. There are days when cattle are the biggest pain in the ass one could ever imagine. I wouldn't want to actually own cattle. They're stupid. Inquisitive, yet often shy & easily spooked. But when they don't want to move, it can take substantial effort to get them going. They break fences regularly.

My best way of moving them is a combination of shouting, imitating a dog barking, and banging a shovel on the group. The rest of the family thinks this is funny as shit.

My uncle was a small-time dairy farmer. So small, that he milked by hand.

Twice a day, he would stand outside the barn and call the cows to come in, to be milked.

They ignored him.
