Still haven't found the time to apply for the US visa (would be the first visit for my wife, slightly more difficult to get the visa, my guess) so I convinced her that Canada could be a good second choice.
She has never experienced an ice cold Xmas or New Year but we've been exposed to movies with snowy scenarios since our young age. Time to make it a reality.

Never been to Canada but we plan to go to Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto. Two or three nights each.
Question is which city or cities deserve just two nights and which is good for three nights.

Maybe you guys can help us make up our minds.

I love walking, even in cold weather. My wife not so much and she might just hate freezing weather.
So what city is more suitable for short walks? And more important, which one is the best for New Year's Eve?

Thank you.

Quebec city is beautiful in the winter, especially the old city. You will love it. Montreal has an old scenic city but not nearly as nice in my opinion. Toronto is a big city that offers big city stuff but if your goal is a winter trip it really has little to redeem itself.
I am somewhat impartial as I live out west, but Banff or Jasper are amazing in the winter, and there is plenty of great skiing if that is of interest to you. I can host the shooting too.

Here are some pictures of Quebec around Chateau Frontenac (which I highly recommend):

Now THERE's an offer it's hard to ignore!!!

IMO Canada should be your first choice, but then I'm biased!

Just a note about Quebec City. The Vielle Ville is prohibited to traffic except certain buses, mainly due to the precipitous inclines of the streets - no motor cycles or sometimes even pushbikes, IIRC. If Senora 0-0 has certain mobility issues then it might just pose her some problems as some streets are at 45 degrees to the horizontal.

Montréal is somewaht better, as much of the above-ground infrastructure is accessible underground, and the view from Mont Réal is truly amazing.

Banff is mostly level, jasper is a bit less so.

Freezing weather in Canada in Winter is axiomatic - nobody goes to Canada in the middle of winter without some serious cold-weather gear, else you are going to die for sure. If you haven't lived in minus 30c before for extended periods it may come as a shock to you both. Just saying.

But you'll have a great time, if Canada gets your vote!

Thank you guys.

The spousal unit is 45YO. Her only mobility issue is my tendency to forget about her and wander on my own.

Haven't fired a shot in years. The offer makes me dream and drool but we're just learning to travel together internationally and have too many places to visit for the first time...
Baby stepping, prudently.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'll keep it in mind for the future.

My knees are really shot. Haven't skied since the nineties (when i screwed up my knees skiing) Cool

Shopping/big city is not as important as a great and unforgettable NYE experience in a beautiful city.

Never have been there, so I can’t say anything about it, but I did see it on a Hallmark TV movie.

I have never been to any of the cities you mentioned, but I've been to Canada many times. I grew up on the border with Canada. The only reason for my post is to suggest that you partake in the wonderful beer that Canada offers. BEST BEER EVER!
Enjoy your trip.

Since you are most likely driving between the cities, I might also suggest visiting Ottawa. It would not really be out of the way, drive wise. I went to college not far from there, beautiful city, plus a variety of things to visit. If you are looking for outdoor activities, the Rideau canal freezes and turns into the worlds largets outdoor skating area, in fact, during the winter many people commute to by skating. Wife and I are planning a trip there in mid-February for Winterlude.
