Finally getting rid of Verizon and going to T Mobile. Our current email addresses are xxx@ verizon.net. I'm assuming we can retain the Verizon address after switching but figured I should confirm first. Sure don't want to change after all these years.

Get a gmail address & you will never have to change. I had an att.net address for 25 years & att.net became very problematic. It was hell to change.

Verizon email is not tied to the service, so you can keep the email address.

Get you new email, set up forwarding of all your Verizon email, reply to all you want to have your new email address (use a signature line), and sort those you replied to with a rule to keep track.

This will eliminate spam once you stop the forwarding.

Would add that you should also keep the Verizon email active and use that email for any place that requires an email like Wal-Mart, Amazon, etc.

That way it's the email out there in the world.

Tracfone Cust svc is truly terrible. I tolerate it because my cell is 70 dollars yearly and I don't have to talk to them yearly

I'm trying Xfinity mobile. Price was right, came with two free pixel 6a's and its $60 for unlimited with 2 lines. Seems like while most people don't love comcast (me included) the cell service isn't bad.

Based on a thread here over a year ago I dropped Verizon and went to Mint Mobile. Overall very satisfied and I’m only paying $20/mo for 10 GB. They have even lower plans if wanted.

Impressive responses given I'm already
dissatisfied with netroTMobile.

In the end their little map advised

If the problem is one of coverage: Despite T-Mobile's claims, Verizon and "AT&T" still have the best.

Or go with one of the MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) that resell Verizon or "AT&T". But beware: There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. There are some things you might get with a true wireless carriers plan you won't get with an MVNO on their network, such as roaming.

T-Mobile has increased their coverage significantly in the last several years. E.g.: In Michigan we hardly ever roam to "AT&T" any longer. There have been times I've had solid coverage and my Verizon- or "AT&T"-using friends have not.

As with the other carriers, Verizon and "AT&T": It depends on where you need coverage.

yes I did. One is visible line of sight across & down river a bit.

There were an unacceptable frequency of 'unavailable' and 'not found' etc errors with metroT.

In any case, I've just signed up for trial ride with Consumer Cellular in my area, several I know seem satisfied.

Mint's own mapsearch engine announced my location had no service.
4 months ago the metroT guy said they used ATT towns in my area.

Not to worry, two years from now when your 'introductory rate' expires and they DOUBLE the price for your plan you'll hate them again...Maybe sooner!

Just like any carrier, service varies depending on your area. I've been on T-mobile for over 20 years, when they were still Voicestream. I've had acceptable service where I live and work. When I visited my family in rural Texas, the service was much more spotty at the start. Now the service is solid when I visit there. When switching to a new service you should never go by the advertising but by the recommendations of people who live and work in the areas you do to get a feel of whether they will meet your needs. Internet friends from across the country can't really tell you what works in your area.

Have always heard bad things about T-Mobile coverage, had never heard the T-Maybe joke!! Looked at Mint until I heard that they use T-Mobile. I have been with ATT since car phones became popular. Decided to try Verizon due to the great promotions for free 14 pro's. Anywho before I made the switch, I got my father in the car with me with his Verizon phone and me with my ATT and drove around to the places that I go the most including out to the gun range. It was interesting to watch the coverage fluctuate on the two phones driving to different places. In the end had slightly better coverage out at the range and much better 5G coverage at my house with Verizon so I went ahead and made the switch. Most folks may not have the time to do such a comprehensive comparison but it really showed that the answer to coverage is "It Depends".

Made we wonder why the companies duplicate efforts with towers, instead of having a tower company that builds out nice network of towers and then lease space on the towers to each of the major players. Seems like we could have twice the coverage with the same number of towers just spaced out and utilized better.

Kind of reminds me of when I got my first cell phone. I had just started my company and knew I'd be going all over the U.S. on business and had no idea which carrier to use. A friend told me to talk to a certain guy who worked for B of A and traveled the whole U.S. all year on business.

The guy said "if you need or want to consistently be able to hit a cell wherever you are, get Verizon as your chances will be good.

If You don't need or want to consistently be able to hit a cell, get one of the other carriers."

It proved to be sound advice. People borrowed my phone even though they had one of their own with a different carrier many times in out of the way locations.

They do. It's just that not every carrier is on every leasable tower space. It may be because the available space is already leased or because a carrier doesn't feel there's enough business to be had to make it worthwhile to install equipment, provide a back-haul, etc.
