Almost like there’s an acronym attention seeking contest going on lately. This message has been edited. Last edited by: P210,

And to the point of the entire thread: though "every veteran will know those," not every member here has a military / law enforcement background and thus may not know the danged acronym.
Clarify, please.

FIGMO = F*ck, I've Got My Orders
OMGIF = Oh My God, I'm F*cked!
However, when I use them, I substitute "Fooey" and "Goodness" where appropriate, and "Fouled up". (I don't use profanity.)
I can amplify OKCGene's contributions, too:
FUBAR = F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition
SNAFU = Situation Normal, All F*cked Up
(I use "fouled" in both cases.)
You're welcome.

BDU is camouflaged mililtary clothing.
BDU = Battle Dress Uniform (when I was "in" we just called them "fatigues")

For those who don't know what CIC and BDU stand for, that long thread title conveys not much info. Not all SF members served, although I'm aware that there is a large military presence on here.

Having spent 38 years in the IT (information technology) world before retiring, I don’t believe there is a more acronym crazy industry!
It was so bad at one point in time that IBM published a book of acronyms and meanings. I should have kept a copy. It was a couple inches thick. We used to laugh about it.
