Love it…

I picked one up too. It is a great watch. There are a lot of quartz watches in that price range but you can go wrong with the Luminox.

Do, Or do not. There is no try.

Dave T. is definitely worth consulting. Some solid recommendations.

The $200 limit is tough…the Ecodrive might be the ticket.

There are some analog or ani/digi GShocks too.

You could also look at Bertucci, Vaer and Victorinox.

If you were to bump it up a bit, the value leader is probably Helm, particularly their Vanuatu.

$.02 Worth.

Despite some people's claims to the contrary, 5 lbs. is actually different than 12 lbs.
It's never simple/easy.

Does it have to be new? An MRG120t would be a great choice in that range/something he would “always” be able to wear.

Deep Blue has one of the best quality builds I've seen on a sub $200 watch, especially one with a metal bracelet. Seiko NH35 auto movement. I have a Master 1000 but it's a chunky watch. For something a little sleeker, the Skindiver 300 looks fantastic.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

He's . . . picky about things and definitely likes what he likes and won't wear it if it's not in that parameter.

I will take all of your suggestions to him and see what his thoughts are. Some of them, to me at least, seem exactly what he wants and needs. But time (pun totally intended) will tell.

Look at the Casio Duro. They have versions with a bracelet. It's a diver, and less than $100. On that note, if a diver is his style preference, a Citizen Promaster from Dave would be the way to go with him offering 35% off.

Something other than a diver, pick one of the Duxots mentioned earlier. Seiko 5's are well thought of, also.

Citizen Field Watch from David.

Analog GShok from same.

I would also consider a Sternglas. I already have one with a second arriving from David this week.

I believe the citizen company stores have some Garrison models at 60% off this week. It's a weekly sale so they aren't clearance models or anything. They'll go back to the regular pricing next week. I got the email from them today, as I'm on their mailing list. I can forward it to you. I think they ship for 20 bucks. I have one local so I never have to ship.

Sternglas is what I got from Dave for my dad's 60th.
