For nearly 9 years we've been waiting to do this. My friends, from 125 miles from the nearest cell tower, and nearly as far from the nearest community... we're working from out mobile office, remotely. Nearly as remote as you can get in Alaska with a wheeled vehicle. Making phone calls, checking messages at the corporate office, submitting work and bidding jobs all at a consumption of about 4 gallons of diesel (for generator) a day.

We're tickled pink. I even managed to grab a little gold in the pan a couple days ago (maybe $20 worth). At our current consumption rate of resources, I can last 12 more days. It's been 5.

Here are a few pictures, uploaded via starlink.

The 9-month-old dutch shepherd pup is loving the free-range lifestyle. The boy, still has his summer-school reading.

That's pretty cool! It's awesome to hear real-world experience with Starlink.

How are speeds?

Throttled by our $150 a month plan to 30 Mbps, which we're getting every bit of. About 33 mbps on all the speed tests.

We do have the option to purchase priority data for $2 per gig; it can be turned off and on instantly. So far this speed is better than we've gotten in so many much more expensive options in Alaska, it feels like a miracle. It supports two phone calls at once, and two of us working. It supports an HD stream for movies, and even a video call with a client.

Yesterday I called my little brother to thank him. When he got hired by starlink about 9 or 10 years ago he told me what was being worked on, and I've not been patient waiting for it to hit Alaska. He designed the chassis and other components of the satellites in orbit over the Polar region, and I called him on the phone to say thanks, over the satellites. For me, it was a VERY proud brother moment.

I did. 2 actually, and I fostered another for about 6 months.

This dutchie is half mal (his mother is FB B. Malinois). He is 9 months old as of a few days ago. Hit 55lbs a couple weeks ago.

Very interesting. I like the internet access anywhere you go.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
