PHILIPS RESPIRONICS TO FOCUS ON MASKS, OTHER CONSUMABLES IN US

Updated 1:22 PM CST, Thu January 25, 2024

AMSTERDAM – Philips Respironics has released a list of 19 sleep and respiratory products that it will stop selling in the United States as soon as this month, including the EverFlo home oxygen system and the Trilogy EVO and EV300 home ventilators.

“We have streamlined our portfolio to enable us to focus on programs that are best suited to changing market dynamics and will most effectively serve patients and customers in the future,” the company states on its website. “In the U.S., and U.S. territories, Philips Respironics will focus on the sale of consumables and accessories, including masks, and will not return to the sale of hospital ventilation products, certain home ventilation products, portable and stationary oxygen concentrators, and sleep diagnostic products.”

Philips Respironics emphasized that the changes to its commercial portfolio will not affect its remediation efforts related to certain CPAP, BiPAP and mechanical ventilators that are part of a June 2021 recall.

The discontinued products include:

CoughAssist airway clearance device – sales were discontinued September 2023, shipments were discontinued October 2023 and service will end Oct. 1, 2028.

DreamStation Go portable PAP therapy system – sales discontinue on Jan. 25, 2024, shipments discontinue on Jan. 25, 2024, and service ends on Jan. 25, 2029.

E30 ventilation solution – sales discontinued November 2021, shipments discontinued November 2021 and service ends Nov. 1, 2026.

EverFlo home oxygen system – sales discontinue Jan. 25, 2024, shipment discontinue Jan. 25, 2024, and service ends Jan. 25, 2029.

SimplyGo and Simply Go Mini portable oxygen concentrators – sales discontinue Jan. 25, 2024, shipments discontinue Jan. 25, 2024, and service ends on Jan. 25, 2029.

Trilogy 100/200/202 portable home ventilator – sales discontinued December 2020, shipments discontinued December 2020, service ends December 2025

Trilogy EVO and EV300 home ventilator – sales discontinued on Jan. 25, 2024, shipments discontinue on Jan. 25, 2024, service ends on Jan. 25, 2029.

For a full list of discontinued products go here.

The announcement also includes a Q&A with additional details:

What is the definition of “end of service”? How will you support the installed base of devices that have already been sold?
Once a product is discontinued for sale, the manufacturer provides a specified number of years of service support wherein all relevant repair parts, accessories etc. necessary to use or service the device (during PMs and repairs) will be supplied pending parts availability.

Will you continue to service the products/devices already in use? What will this look like?
Philips will continue to support all discontinued products with repair kits, spare parts and resupply materials depending upon parts availability up until the end of service date as specified in the discontinuation notice.

I have open orders with Philips on discontinued product; what is the status of those orders?
Orders that are shipped prior to the defined shipment discontinuation date will be honored. All other orders that are unable to be shipped will be cancelled.

My product that is discontinued failed within its warranty period and is unable to be repaired. How will you rectify this situation?
Philips will provide refunds as articulated in the warranty terms and conditions but will be unable to provide a replacement product.

My product that is discontinued failed during the post-warranty period and is unable to be repaired. How will you rectify this situation?
Philips will not provide a new product for replacement or sale.

Now, the Food and Drug Administration has reported that since initiating a recall of approximately 15 million devices in 2021, 561 CPAP users have died as a result of illnesses linked to faulty machines while thousands are battling other severe health conditions.

I noticed I’ve been extremely tired and had a very hard time focusing at work today so I decided I needed to call about a new machine.

My doctor referred me to the medical supply place. The idiot who answered the phone there referred me to my doctor. My doctors office said I’ll have to come in for a visit and may have to have another sleep study since my first sleep study was in 2021. If I have to do another one I’m switching doctors. I quit going because I hate my current one.

They already replaced mine last year, I no longer use one so sold it here to someone on forum. Got a letter stating they'd give me $100 to ship my old one to thrm so I did. Now I get an email stating my replacement machine is on the way. I'm not sure what's going on.
