If somebody makes them with the sizes boldly printed on all four "side", I will buy them. My giant pet peeve of tool makers, especially certain brands. We're going to emboss the company name in deep bold font around the perimeter, but we're going to put the size in one spot, in a thin small font, acid or laser etch letters that you could barely see before they started to wear off. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

My god you have a hugely successful idea here. Thanks so much for all the suggestions! I have some homework to do and (more importantly) shopping. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

^^^^ I bought a bunch of socket sets at Sears, Craftsman brand, in 1995. I should have returned them right away, but I didn't. They work fine, but the size markings are so thin and fine they are almost impossible to read. Yeah, that's a great idea, when buying make sure you can easily read the sizes without having to wear cheater glasses, or use a magnifying glass, etc. .

I was on a MATCO truck last week, almost nothing made in the USA and their prices for hand tools rival Snap-On. Only thing I bought was some USA RedBack socks.

I’m fortunate to have bought the vast majority of my hand tools many years ago, when I thought I might turn wrenches for a living. I decided it wasn’t for me, but my basic tools are all American made and high quality. My 3/8” and 1/2” drive rachet sets are Cornwell, that would include all the SAE sockets. I have Snap-On metric sockets, both standard and deep. My 1/4” drive rachet set is S-K Wayne. I note that I have a 1/2” drive breaker bar from Fleet, which is American made. I have some specialty sockets, e.g. swivel-spark plug from Proto. Somewhere along the way, my dad had my tools for a long time when I was doing cowboy stuff, and I lost my Snap-On 9/16 combination wrench. Ran into a Snap-On tool man a couple years back and priced a replacement. My eyes began to water. I don’t know how anyone who’s not a pro can afford to buy any of these top American brands. _______________________________________________________ despite them
