Yep. I experienced that when we first adopted the Glock, and taping it until a callous developed is exactly what I did.
I still recommend that when I'm teaching at the academy, and run into cadets who are experiencing "Glock knuckle".

apprenticeHow many rounds do you guys have to shoot to notice this problem? Asking because I have never experienced what you're talking about, and I've shot a lot of different pistols just like the rest of you have I imagine.
Now my Redhawk .44 raps my knuckle quite a bit, but that's more of a hammering than a sanding.

For what it's worth, I noticed it within about five rounds on the Glock.
