My son is a US Marine and currently assigned to a duty station in California. I need to ship his car out there from Western Ky. This is new to me so looking for recommendations for shipping. I’ve considered driving it out and flying home but I can’t justify a 30 hour drive and hotels, airfare, etc. Any reccomendations for reliable affordable transport services is appreciated.

My son moved the opposite way from yours and I shipped his truck to him. I found out some interesting things about shipping. 1. I went to the Web and chose a shipper to get a quote and from this one shipper I received MANY quotes from shipping companies. 2. When you talk to the shipper, they are just the broker who collect their fee to hook you up thru 'their' work to enter you into the data base where the actual truckers then pick to service you as it fits their driving schedule. My trucker was a very nice guy. He lives in California where he starts picking up cars and picks up more and drops them off on his way across the U.S., then when on the other side, does the same thing all over again until he gets back home to California. I paid 1K to a California Broker and found all the quotes I got were within a few hundred dollars of each other. If you need more, email in my profile, feel free to contact me. this echoes what I experienced - i didn't pull the trigger yet but will likely be shipping a vehicle cross-country in a few months. You will be contacted by a BUNCH of brokers. You might want to set up a new email address for this because you will get about a hundred emails immediately selling you their company / services as mentioned above - the quotes will all be pretty close - i was quoted typically 1100-1400 for NC to Nevada you can pay more for closed transport... less for open transport. ----------------------------- Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
