Get my pies outta the oven! |
The op-ed I posted in the official Coronavirus thread got me to thinking about this thing I had back around Christmas: I came down with what I thought was a nasty cold with an awful, dry cough and nasty bad sore throat. Went to the doc after about a week when my sore throat did not get better as it normally does after 1-2 days. They told me it was just a cold and to just keep doing what I was doing. Another week went by and it was not getting better, the sore throat lessened a bit but my cough was getting worse and I was keeping my wife up at night I was coughing so bad. I let another week go by and then right before Christmas I went to my local urgent care and described what was going on. They did a bunch of tests to see if I had the flu, no. Step throat, no. Chest x-rays, they come back after looking at them and the doc says "it's good you came in, you were well on your way to getting pneumonia!". They gave me some meds, can't recall what exactly and some industrial strength cough suppressant and after 10 days or so I was all better but my chest was sore for weeks afterwards from the really bad coughing fits I had. Is it possible that I had contracted Coronavirus and not even realized it? Any docs on the board want to weigh in on this? | ||
