Need a quick room somewhere. Thinking about using AirBnB. This has gotten big, so it must work. But if anyone has used them, what has been your experience.

It's not you, it's me. |
I’ve used it many times. Both staying at houses, as well as people staying at my place. I’m a fan.

Frequent user of VRBO/Home Away and AirBNB. The only negative experience I’ve had with either service was the only time I rented an apartment from a new renter with no reviews or ratings. Just read the property/host reviews and ratings and you’re GTG. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

AirBnB good to go. I use it frequently, even internationally. Just read the individual property reviews.

I used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago when we went to Tahoe. The place had a hot tub and it was nice sitting in it under the stars and surrounded by snow. The place advertised it self as "420 friendly" and that was kind of weird since we're both in law enforcement. However, we didn't see a thing

Used AirBnB last summer in Fort Collins, Colorado. Great visit, much nicer than a hotel, roomy, rural, comfortable. As long as referrals/references are good, I would do it again in a New York minute.

Just for the hell of it |
I've used Airbnb a few times. Always been happy with them. Read the descriptions and look at the pictures so you know what you're getting. You can get an entire house/condo/apartment or just a room so make sure you know what you're getting. Read the reviews also. It's all in the reviews. If they are good the place looks like what you want you will be happy. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Like a party in your pants |
I rented a Ocean front home ( Villa Manta) for 3 days on the island of Koa Samui in Thailand from a person living in New Zealand. Flawless experience. The house even came with live in cook and house keeping. Arranged all our transportation needs and sights to see. It was expensive, but well worth it. I never used AirBnB before and was nervous about doing it. All was better than expected.

We’ve stayed in some amazing places for very reasonable prices. We’ve only had one experience where it wasn’t better than described/photographed. If you sign up using someone’s referral link you’ll get money off your first stay and get the person who referred you a credit. I’m happy to send you a link if you want and don’t have someone else to want to give a credit to.

Used them more internationally than domestic. Very satisfied with the process and availability of locations. My first time using was renting a sofa bed from a 25-year old gal, she slept in the bedroom, I slept on the sofa, we shared the bathroom. $25/night. Big thing is to read the reviews. Like car sharing (Uber, Lyft...) AirBnB is driven by reviews and experiences. If prior users have shitty experiences, that location will get dropped from the program. I've heard some horror stories (owner forgot to leave keys, owner was late and left wrong cell number, no toilet paper, no bath towels...), naturally, those reviews let them have it and everybody can see how bad a location it is. The good places are where the owners enjoy being hosts and into the hospitality business. Couple of notes: - Make sure you have the owners contact info should something happen...clogged or, burst pipe, fire, break-in. - Print up a few pictures to make sure what you're renting is what you saw online. Also read and re-read the amenities...does the location have wi-fi? Are you renting a room, an in-law or, the whole house/condo/appt? - Make sure check-in/out process is clear..where to pick-up/leave keys, what to do with garbage, bed sheets and towels at the end of your stay. This one gets some people who are slobs or, plain inconsiderate assholes. - Any issues with neighbors regarding noise or, parking - A good host will have recommendations for restaurants, bars, shopping and public transportation.

...and now here's Al with the Weather. |
I deal with WAY to many issues with prostitution in AirB&B at work to use it now. Yes the house might be great but the table that broke just last night and the owner has no idea what happened...well two people were on it at the same time. ___________________________________________________ But then of course I might be a 13 year old girl who reads alot of gun magazines, so feel free to disregard anything I post.
