Massive fail on the part of the participants. Trump had more mentions than the deceased and he wasn't even present!

Disgusting.

Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin attended the funeral on Saturday.

In 2008 Bill Clinton said:

"She and John McCain are very close. They always laugh that if they wound up being the nominees of their party, it would be the most civilized election in American history,"

"They're afraid they'd put the voters to sleep because they like and respect each other."

Roll Eyes It wasn't too long ago that libs were calling him a warmonger, for supporting the invasion of Iraq, calling for airstrikes on the NORKs nuclear program, holding Obama's feet to the fire in surging troops to Iraq and ultimately handholding Mattis' nomination to became SecDef. Now they want to appear as fondly reminiscing of a model citizen, a friend across the aisle they could sit together at the lunch time cafeteria.

...how their memories are short and full of it.

I know that liberals, democrats and even some in this thread were saying that Trump is petty and vindictive. I think this funeral has exposed that lie. From speaker after speaker and even McCain's daughter it was one petty, vindictive speech after another. Here's what Trump did:

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

They simply cannot put their hatred for Trump away even to bury someone they loved. That's the disease of liberalism.

If you aren't with them, you're the enemy.

OK, we have had a week to mourn, piss on his grave, make him a hero, villian, whatever.

Can we now let this topic fade off into the dustbin of history.

Yep, no more need for this thread. Let it die like the asshole that it was about.

That is an excellent choice. Hope he plans to run in two years.

I really don't know anything about him. But really? 76 years old? In any case, won't this seat be contested in the upcoming midterms?

No. That is Flake’s seat

Kyl will serve until 2020, there will be an election to fill the remaining two years at that time.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

A good choice for the short-term, but I am curious why Ducey didn't go for a younger conservative that could use the 2 year term to build a record to run on in 2020.

Hmm I wonder, now why would a one term R governor that wants to move up in politics appoint a short timer to a position they might aspire to hold.....

I don't remember a single mention of him or his successor on The Five or Bret Baier tonight, so it's at least easing a bit.

I'm keeping my finger on the channel change button, though, just in case they try and sneak something in on us. Sorta like waiting for an SBD, isn't it?

It occurred to me last night that in the nearly 10 years I've been here, and the dozen or more threads I've started, this is probably the longest-lasting one, and the only one I want to see grow old and die. Big Grin
