Almost as Fast as a Speeding Bullet |
Friends, Romans, Forumites, lend me your ear. If you've actually made it this far, I want to ask your help for a really great program that helps kids in the Central Texas area that are in the foster care system. It is called Central Texas Table of Grace, and I believe it is worthy of a little group effort. The short version is this. Not long ago, on an outing with a mutual friend, I met a young woman who has decided to take her personal experience in life and start a non-profit emergency shelter for kids that are being bounced around the foster care system. She herself is an "alumna" (if you will) of the system and has decided to apply her energy, experience, and talents to help other kids that are falling through the cracks. In the brief time that I got to know her, I believe that she has the drive to do really good things for the kids of Central Texas that are honestly kind of invisible to many of us. This is how she describes the efforts on their Facebook Page
This is where Chick-Fil-A comes in. They run a "True Inspiration Awards" program and CTTG is a finalist in the Southwest area (Texas). If they can get the most votes they will receive a $75,000 grant, and that is huuuuge for such a new outreach. So how do you do it? It's really simple. Go to iTunes or the AppStore and download the Chick-Fil-A app (skip this if you are already ahead of the game). Sign up and create a free account (lets you order ahead and cut in line basically. Yaaaay). Scroll to the bottom of the app on your phone and vote in the Southwest area (the one that has Texas) for Central Texas Table Of Grace. It costs not a single thing (bonus!). If you can spare me a few minutes, I would greatly appreciate it and so will a lot of other folks. Here's a link to the Facebook page. Take a look and see what they're up to. https://www.facebook.com/centraltexastableofgrace/ Thanks, OttoThis message has been edited. Well thank-you to all of you who helped! Central Texas Table of Grace won the $75,000 grant contest. This is going to be a huge thing for my friend and all the kids she looks out for. I love being able to share good news, and once again thanks for all of you who voted! ______________________________________________ Aeronautics confers beauty and grandeur, combining art and science for those who devote themselves to it. . . . Congratulations! That's going to help. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946. | |||
