My Dad passed away last Wednesday unexpectedly. He was a retired Lt Col in the USAF. Burial will take place at a later date in the Camp Nelson National Cemetary. The honor guard will be there and we will be presented with a flag.

I am looking to display the flag in a wooden case. At first, I thought of making a triangular box, but now I am thinking that I would also like to display a picture of when he soloed in his first fighter, his last set of wings, dog tags and a few other items. Has anyone ever seen or possess a different shape of box to display the items that I mentioned? Have a pic or link as to where I could see it to get some ideas?

Thanks

Just 'Google', "flag and medals display case". Lots to choose from.

I'm not recommending this site as I have never used it but it will give you a starting point in your search. Many companies offer these and you may be able to find something local.

Check these guys out: https://www.usamilitarymedals.com

I've been using them for about 15 years for ribbons and medals and such. I also ordered my shadow box from them...and they include a flag case. They are also quick to ship (less than a week)

There are companies that specialize in this sort of thing. Shadow boxes with flag cases and memorabilia/award displays are common retirement gifts. Here are some examples

Timely thread. I am putting one together for my eventual passing so that my family will only have to add the flag. My wife and I will be buried at the Arkansas Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

My shadow box is coming from www.shadowboxguru.com

Search for “military shadow box” and/or “usaf shadow box”

You’ll find what you’re looking for.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Sadly, I know where Camp Nelson is, my BIL is buried there. It is a beautiful cemetery.

After the firing party has fired their volleys at the funeral,if they don't offer, ask them for some of the spent blank cartridges. Then tuck three of the empty cartridges in the fold of the flag in back, before inserting into the wooden case. It is a tradition and an additional honor.

Two things bring me to tears. The unconditional Love of God,the service of the United States Military, past, present, and future.
