https://www.homedepot.com/p/Mi...er-2597-22/204848126 Kit 2597-22 My local HD had an additional markdown to $189, and a clearance price set at $135. This is a great buy for the kit considering it’s a FUEL. that sounds too good to be true, so ! good! I am suspicious ( for no good reason) I really really dislike the whole cordless tool fad, but will call the H.D. here to check it out Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Let me tell you, the tools that are offered nowadays and the batteries that drive them are pretty damned good. I love the hell out of my cordless collection. No more having to lug an air hose around. Can use it anywhere at any time. These are good times to be a Toolie.

The Lithium Ion batteries were a complete game changer for cordless tools. The 18v NiCad battery cordless tools I used to have were a complete POS, always dead when you need them, batteries didn't perform when it was cold out, didn't hold a charge for more than several weeks......Lithium ion has none of those issues.

You can't go wrong for that price. I have the impact tool but a 18v hammer drill that is more heavy duty for my needs. Used them all the time.

I had to rely on NiCads at work for decades and no way would I waste money on tools for home so I was late to the game. I finally broke down a few years back and sprung for some Lithium Ion stuff -- Milwaukee M12 -- and could kick myself for waiting so long. Having a nearly indestructible corded 3/8", 25 year old Dewalt drill gives me peace of mind. Set the controls for the heart of the Sun.

Impact was the first real game changer, then lithium-ion. Now, everything is becoming available in cordless.

It’s being clearanced out because the second generation kit is ready. The new tools are a little shorter and slightly fatter. For that price I’d be all over that first gen kit. That’s the kit I have, and it is fantastic. Punches way above its weight class. I’m going to check my local HD tomorrow. I hope I can get that deal. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

I stayed away from cordless tools for several years but I agree with the others that the newer tools with lithium ion batteries are good to go. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

The M12 (and M18) are great tools. I’ve owned and used the original brush M12 stuff since 2009 or so. The brushless FUEL line came out 5 years ago and I have the hammer drill from that line. That little hammer drill is a workhorse! No, it doesn’t quite run with my M18 or DeWalt 20v, but it’s hard to beat the performance in that compact package. As mentioned, the FUEL gen2 is now out, so expect to find some great deals on gen1 and original brush tools. I'm building my collection of M18 FUEL tools. I am not disappointed in them. Just wish I got to use them more often! -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Got this today from Milwaukee. Snip: DON'T MISS OUT ON THE BIG REVEAL We are less than 7 days away from announcing our breakthrough in the fastest growing and highest performing 18V system in the industry. I am all in with the 18v fuel tools have a bunch of them, couple grand or so worth. IMO They are amazing. Last purchase was the 24” hedge trimmer, another winner! Tempted to get the string trimmer for light cleanups, if it is as good as the rest i could probabally retire the gas burner. Collecting dust.

No double standards |
My problem is I already have Mikita and Milwaukee 18V lithium drill sets, and Milwaukee and Bosch 12V sets (I am a sucker for tool sales). "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women.
