Electric Shaver Recommendation Login/Join

Guys need a some help/ suggestion on a good electric razor. My father in law starts chemo in a couple of days and one of the strong suggestions was to no use a standard razor blade to shave. They suggested an electric razor and I am looking to get him one but I have never used one. I looked online but honestly guys I was a little overwhelmed and there was a huge spread in price and features.

Cost is not a factor would just love to find one that will provide him a clean look, he takes very good care of his appearance. Gentlemen any personal experiences or your favorite brand and model would be greatly appreciated.

I've been using the Braun 3 series (model 3040S, currently) for years and have been very happy with them. It has a pop-up sideburn trimmer, which is a must for me. They are also more affordable than many, running around $60 on Amazon.

I started this thread last winter and got a lot of suggestions on electric razors. I went with a Braun Series 5 that my wife found on sale, and have been very happy with it.

Braun 5 series. My last one lasted 20 years. I expect the new one will too.

I used Norelco for decades. Lately the shave I was getting with my razor was lacking. Actually the last couple razors I had were leaving me unsatisfied.

About 3 weeks ago I decided to try a Braun. I picked up a series 5 and the shave is like night and day. I no longer have to go over the same spot repeatedly.

Braun from now on for me.

Braun series 7 has a lot of good reviews, by any chance anyone use this unit with foam or wet shaving.

I'm using a Braun Series 5 gifted to me by member sidss1 several years ago. Just dropped the 2nd replacement set of cutters and foils into it. Back to working like a champ.

If you do get a Braun Series X shaver, a hint for the user: Pop the foil, knock the clippings into a wastebasket, rinse foil and head under warm water, pop the foil back on, run the razor under the warm water, shake it out, then pop it into the charger/cleaning station and run the cleaning cycle.

Keeps the cleaning solution cleaner and it'll do a nicer job, longer.

I had always used Norelco shavers but was never really happy with them as they always left a lot of razor burn. 19 years ago when I was laid off for a few months I decided to just grow a beard. Took a while but it came in nice and brown with a hint of red, compliments my Grandfather. More recently it's just become gray and scraggly, so a few weeks ago I decided "screw it" and took it off. I've been shaving with a blade since then and yes bleeding a bit. So I'm looking into an electric again too. The Braun 5 or 6 series is looking good right now.

Same series I use. I do ^^this^^ and replace the cap on the solution to keep the alcohol from evaporating.
If you forget or don’t like the inconvenience of that you can just add more alcohol when it gets low.

Braun Series 7 for me when not wearing a beard. Used it both wet and with shaving cream. Presently used only on my neck, dry.

I've been through Norelco, Remington, Panasonic and Braun. For me it is Braun Series 7, hands down.

I liked Braun, but they stopped putting a lock button on their power switch. If you travel with it, your luggage might come out buzzing (voice of experience here).

I use a Panasonic ES-LA63S, which has the lock button. It's apparently still available on Amazon.
