So for a bit of backgrounds, fireworks of any sort are illegal in the county due to the high danger of a firestorm. Today was 110 degrees in the cooler parts of the county with 3% humidity until 4ish when it finally got over 10%. Winds are from the east with 20+ mph gusts and there have been multiple fires throughout the day to include one just to the east (in Alpine) which has burned at least 10 homes. And the asshat around the corner wants to light off some messican fireworks because "his kids missed them on Wednesday." Only the second time I have ever called the po-po in the 20 years I've been in this house. Hoping the $500 ticket hurts. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. It's barely 6-months since the Lilac Fire and the Scripps Ranch/Cedar Fire should've been seared into the minds of every San Diego resident but, there's always an idiot in every neighborhood.

Wow; Only a $500 fine. Setting off fire works in a high fire zone area should be something like reckless endangerment. A lot of people could die if the spark hit in the right place. _________________________ "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." Lucky you at 110 degrees. We are in North County and it was 117 at our house, 91 degrees INSIDE the house. Our AC broke and repairman finally showed up at 7pm. Fortunately an easy fix for him. Let me tell you, it was F*@^&$g HOT. Seems every year getting hotter...time to move.... On the way into Avila they had one of those programmable signs out with a message about “No fireworks! $2000 fine.” Mind you, the town is one way in or out, a winding two lane road, and has a nuke plant as a next door neighbor. The LEO around the county here have been getting serious about fireworks, putting drones up to catch folks. Instead of the “Be careful.” Talks from cops that I remember as a kid, they are taking things very seriously anymore.

Yikes! Lucky me. Our home in the Cays had no air conditioning. We moved 5 years ago. Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me. When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

For reference, on July 6th, it was 76°F here in the north Puget Sound area. Today's forecast is 71°F. One of the nice things up here is the lack of sweltering temperatures.

VERY HIGH fire danger in northern Utah right now. We're basically a desert in the sky. It astounds me how many fireworks I see going off on the benches of the Wasatch mountains. Incredibly stupid people doing incredibly stupid things. Oh, we have our 24th of July (statehood) celebration coming up.
