Here's my thought:

For federal positions (House, Senate, President) all states have the same requirements. Either government issued photo ID, givernment non-photo ID, or no ID.

Each state can determine what/how their state voter ID (as noted above) is for governor, state representative, mayors, non-federal positions, etc.

Sure, some states will balk and may require two different ballots but... The federal positions' voter ID is defined and the states' voter ID is determined by each state.

In Tennessee it is very simple. TN State photo ID including Handgun Permit, US Passport or Military Photo ID .

I work at a polling place that was about 3 dems to every 1 republican. This time it was almost 1 to 1! Smile

I'd say about 3 out of 4 hand us their ID anyway. We cannot ask for it unless if check in prompts us.

So the mass of Dem voters I see WANT to show ID. I heared many comments that support ID to vote.

In 2024, you need proof of identity to:

1. Open a bank account
2. Get on an airplane
3. Purchase a firearm

But not to vote. It's insane.

As much as requiring an ID would help, enacting stricter laws on how ballots are handled and counted may have the best impact on having fair elections.

The BS going on in PA is proof enough that the voter ID doesn't matter, they'd have counted the vote anyway as long as it had a D selected.

Jail terms for people like the commissioners in PA who ignored the court ruling on ballot counting.

The only way that happens, ID and better laws on voting is to turn Blue States Red and change he laws. D will never turn to fixing voting issues until those same issues start costing them elections..

too complicated. you have California where they even passed a law to make it illegal to ask or show an ID.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
