Staring back from the abyss |
I had a not dissimalar experience once. I was driving between two towns in NW MT and came up on a guy who was driving about 35 in a 55. I signaled and proceeded to pass him and he sped up. I wasn't paying too much attention until I realized that it was taking too long to pass. I looked down and we were both doing about 80. I backed off and pulled back in behind him thinking that he got the message and would speed up. Nope. Back down to 35. At the next passing zone I pulled out again to pass and the same thing happened. Additionally, the bastard eased over into the passing lane trying to push me off the road (and he damn near succeeded). I once again backed off and pulled in behind him. He then really started to fuck with me going from 35 down to 5 to 10, etc.... After a mile or so of this he simply stopped right in the middle of the highway and got out of his vehicle and began walking back towards me with a tire iron in his hand. I responded by laying a 1911 on the dashboard. He promptly returned to his vehicle and pulled it off to the side of the road allowing me to pass. I agree that when people are made aware that there are consequences for their actions, they tend to be a little more cordial. This message has been edited. Ah, yes! I've never had one, but I've been tempted every time I get a new pistol. -------------------------- Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. -- H L Mencken I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. -- JALLEN 10/18/18

Never wanted a yaqui slide myself. What I want in a holster is protection for the gun (especially the muzzle) and some semblance of retention. The slide offers neither IMHO. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

I have used the Yaqui Slide from time to time. but only for the gun it was designed for - the 1911. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Ignored facts still exist |
Had one, hated it. If something bumps the end of the muzzle, out pops your pistol. Had to be careful every time I sat in a car with bucket seats, which is most all cars now. .

Anyone who has NOT carried, Should, first they need to carry concealed for 90 days . this would make most understand the responsibility and scope of what its like. then they need to carry open for 90 days, and find out what that entails . ( this coming from a guy who believes that everyone should have the right t.k.a.b.a., but also that not every sole on the planet should be carrying ) Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. A quick glance at Wikipedia regarding Jeff Cooper yielded this... "Cooper held strongly conservative political opinions.[16] In 1991, he wrote in Guns & Ammo magazine that "no more than five to ten people in a hundred who die by gunfire in Los Angeles are any loss to society. These people fight small wars amongst themselves. It would seem a valid social service to keep them well-supplied with ammunition."[16][17] In 1994, Cooper said "Los Angeles and Ho Chi Minh City have declared themselves sister cities. It makes sense: they are both Third World metropolises formerly occupied by Americans."

newtoSig765: He brought back the Yaqui holster. When the first copy came out I bought one. Used it to carry a S&W Model 39. It was made for a model 1911 but it worked great. I was a street working detective back then and found that Yaqui to be the best holster I'd ever used. I still use them! Cooper saw one of his "bandits" had one that he'd made. (simple holster) I suspect Jeff bought it from him. Stay safe Poli Viejo

Now picture you live in Arizona. You are out and about enjoying the outdoors. When you sit down, chances are it will be on a rock. The bottoms of my holsters are often scratched and gouged from sitting down on rocks while hunting or just being outdoors. I imagine what my gun would look like if it wasn't in a holster that protected it. NOPE, NOPE....ain't gonna do it. YMMV -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.
