Nov 14th will be my 19th anniversary on being a Sigforumite, I’ve also started a new role at work that is a growth opportunity, and I’m frankly overjoyed with the election results. In other words, it’s time for a karma.

This is the only place on the Internet that I call "home" and it's because of y'all. Before we get to the karma portion, it's appropriate to thank:

Para for providing this digital oasis for us. It's extremely generous to provide a forum free of charge with zero advertisements to offset costs.

Para and the mods for running it in the manner they do which has made Sigforum a very unique community.

The members as they've provided endless laughs, insight into almost every subject imaginable, shown unsurpassed generosity, and my home is full of items that y'all have recommended.

When I first joined the forum, I was impressed by Wally's please and thank you karma since those 3 words aren't used frequently enough in today's society. Therefore, 90% of the karmas I've offered have followed that format.

Very nice Karma. I still remember watching Barney with my now adult kids and the Please and Thank You song was quite popular in the day.

My grandmother and mother insisted we write thank you notes for gifts and, of course, we always included a "thank-you" in those. They didn't always have "please" in them.

You are right, some manners go a long way.

My child was taught please and thank you from day 1 and I always make sure to use that exact phrase even when just texting somebody with an ask, ending the text with “please and thank you”.

One should strive to be polite and raise their kids to be so. Hold doors for folks, offer to help folks carry heavy stuff etc. etc. it goes a long way especially in today’s world.

My kids were taught from the time that they could converse to appropriately include 'please and thank you' as a sincerity, not as an affectation. To this day, it has stuck with them. I have become quite proud of how they have grown into young men, not for their achievements, but for their behavior.
