My Time is Yours |
Growing up we always commented how rich someone is when they have air conditioning. We really never have needed it because of the cross breeze; but 7-10 days a year we do need it. My wife and I chuckled at dinner saying we feel a little richer with having AC LOL! I keep on walking by my Nest thermostat and chuckle. Hope you all are keeping safe and healthy. Congratulations! We have long known you were one of the coolest dudes on SF! But, you might feel a little less wealthy when that electric bill arrives.

Man I thought my parents were late to the party, they live in San Diego and got A/C maybe 10 years ago. Never had it growing up, when it got hot just opened windows and enjoyed some ocean breeze. Mongo only pawn in game of life...

You have really hit the big time. Stevie Ray Vaughn grew up in a poor family in Texas. When he made it big he got a window air conditioning unit installed in the family home. He took a picture of it and carried it around with him.

Awesome! After 12 years in this house, we finally got AC last month! Totally worth it. Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

I'm 68 and have had AC since I was about 5 I guess. My daddy worked shift work at the plant and needed it to sleep during the day. We had one window unit in mine and my sister's room. He would sleep in there during the day. Gets kind of hot and humid in south Louisiana. _______________________________________________________ And no, junior not being able to hold still for 5 seconds is not a disability.

My first car with a/c was my 1971 Pinto. I got the larger (2000cc) engine just so I could have it. I loved that little car and drove it for 9 years. I think the first home I lived in that had a/c was an apartment here in Dallas (1980). flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

It was 105° here in Texas...you need it here. Glad you got some too-even if you only need it two weeks a year. Yeah... Having lived in Texas and Arkansas most of my life, I can't imagine not having AC! Even when I lived in Maine, AC was needed for periods during the summer.

I've never had A/C in any home I've lived in. Every auto since 1980 has had A/C though. **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

We've living in Montana for over 45 years and never had it until about 10 years ago. When we lived in other Montana cities, the nightly breeze cooled the house down. Here, the air is dead calm at night and our house stayed way too hot to sleep. A window A/C worked in our bedroom but we sprung for central A/C finally. Now we are really spoiled. Glad you joined the A/C club. Mike I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown ................................... Long ago I lived on Commonwealth in Fullerton. We did not have AC in the house. We used fans and open windows. I spent most of my days outside playing baseball or getting into some sort of trouble. (I remember fly balls and smog pain in the eyes when looking up for a fly ball) Dad had a big AC window/wall unit in his vet clinic. It was big enough to freeze you out of a small room that was next to the kennel. The kennel was long and narrow with a big fan at the far end from the AC room. The dogs and cats had cooling. We even used the AC to depress the temp of a canines with heat stroke. SIGnature NRA Benefactor CMP Pistol Distinguished

Enjoy! I wouldn’t be typing this message from south Mississippi if I didn’t have AC Michael

Nice. Back when we were young our first house didn't have A/C. I remember the summer I bought and installed the system. I mused that I didn't so much have a new A/C as I had a new wife.....lol. Home with tiny kids and A/C makes for a happier wife. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

For the record, I'd turn off the a/c in my house for a weekend if I could spin up your food options! Bonus question - how low have you set it at night? Want some decadence, set it at temp where y'all need a blanket. #everynighthere You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

That rug really tied the room together. |
Ive put about $18,000 worth of AC into my two homes in the past 18 months. Soon to be about $24,000 worth.... buying an investment property next month, it too gets a new AC. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow
