I've been snacking on pork rinds at night watching TV. They're pretty tasty.

What the hell are they really. My wife brought them home. Will they kill me ?

Fried pig skin. Delicious. Moderation is your friend as in most things.

They're better than other snack foods in some ways (no carbs or sugar, and high in protein).

In other ways, they're just as bad or worse (high in sodium, fat, and cholesterol).

They're kinda like potato chips just without the carbs, but like potato chips they should still be eaten in moderation.

If hou live someplace close to a Mexican meat market, they fry their own chicharrones (pork rinds) and sell them by the pound in big sheets. They are fabulous.

Much better than traditional chips by far.
No carbs, good protein.
We use them for a healthier breading substitute in KETO/low carb diets.

FWIW, salt, cholesterol and fat are not the demons people make them out to be.
Saying they are worse is just not accurate.

Yeah? Well I've been snacking on Del Dixi Dilly Bites. They make my nose pucker they're so good. I may be pregnant, and as a 60 y.o. male, that's not good.

^^^^^^. This.

Nothing wrong with any of them. Eat up and enjoy!

ETA: The only concerns I would have with them is which oil they are fried in and what chemicals are used for the flavors.

The local BBQ places around here sell them.
Great taste to them when fresh.

I'm on a Keto/Carnivore diet. No carbs, sugars, or starches. Pork rinds are on my list of approved snacks. No harm unless you're consuming processed foods, sugars, carbs, and starches.

I've lost 60 pounds on this diet.

I have tried a bunch but I like the Chef Piggy Tail microwave pork rinds the best.

Type 1 diabetic here, so ultra-low carb diet. Pork rinds and celery are my chip alternatives. I should probably eat more celery than pork rinds, but they're hard to resist!

I like them, some are better than others. Frito Lay Baken'ets are available at most all stores, are cheap and taste great.

My wife grinds pork skins up and uses them for a coating on baked chicken strips. Just another use for a good snack.

Been my go to road trip food for years. A bag of pork rinds, two Slimjims, and a coke.

No doubt homemade ones are on another level.
I've tried a couple times and haven't quite got it done well but it was still pretty tasty.
I'll figure it out, sooner or later. Smile
