When I first moved to this "multi-cultural" society, I learned that a lot of what I saw on TV was absolutely false. But, one thing that really impacted me was how when a Black kid wanted to raise my ire, he was incapable of doing so with just words - and this frustrated the Hell out of them. For the first time in my young life, I was called a whole host of derrogative adjectives that meant nothing to me.

Turkey, Honky, Cracker were just a few of the very many. But, the more they spewed, the more amused I was. All the while, I knew I had the equivalent of a nuclear bomb in my arsenal of pejoratives.

I always wondered why they granted non-Black people that kind of power over them.
