Madison is OK. Stay out of Jackson and Ridgeland. I minimize the time I have to spend in that area. Anytime I have eaten there is not sit down. Jackson still has questionable drinking water.

I can tell you to stay away from any of the restaurants on Riverwind Drive. It’s the road just next to I20. We stay at a Hilton Garden there when going back and forth between NC and TX. The Juicy Seafood place absolutely sucked..the only one I will go to anymore there is the Cracker Barrel.

Madison/Ridgeland is where you’ll want to stick. Nothing south of I220 junction with I55 is safe. To Michael’s point, the very southern border of Ridgeland is at County Line road and not great, but bulk of Ridgeland is fine.
For steaks Koestler Prime or Ely’s a great choice. For more variety Local 463 is good, similar but more seafood-centric is Caet.
BBQ, Italian, Chinese, Mexican are all a wasteland here, certainly compared to Nashville or most anywhere in TN.
Water only issue in downtown Jackson, not these two suburbs.

For the most part I avoid Jackson eateries. I must say that Lou's Full Serv down on Fortification is an exception, the food and service are excellent, the location not as desolate as might first be thought. At least give it consideration...

Two Sisters was legit, unfortunately permanently closed some time ago. If in the downtown-ish area the other great choice is Walker's Drive In. Not actually a drive in, but a casual restaurant with fancier food than you'd expect. OK for a 5p dinner or lunch. Personally, not at 8p or 9p.
Y'all may think Michael and I are exaggerating the risks downtown. It's bad and getting worse, chances of being caught in crossfire is real, as is carjacking. We have at least one shootout a month, can be in the Kroger lot, gas station, drive through, etc. They led the country in per-capita homicides last year, second to NOLA I believe the year prior.
