Just to head off the "she'll do no time" remember, it's Federal, not State.

Whether or not she does time, she's a convicted felon if she loses her appeal. Disbarment, removed from the bench, no voting, no firearms, the whole magilla.

The icing on the cake is that the illegal she tried to rescue was immediately captured and deported anyway. Razz

That's the icing and the best thing to have happened for her. Imagine if he was able to escape and then committed a violent crime which is quite possible. She should be thankful.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." In noticed that the offense occurred on April 18, 2025; and that the guilty verdict came down on December 18, 2025. That’s a difference of only 8 months.

Normally, I would think, that there wouldn’t be such a quick turn around by the prosecutor’s office from offense to trial to verdict. But given the who, what, where, when, why, and how, expediency was good. Wish all such cases could be handle so quickly instead of being dragged out with legal motions and maneuvers.

6-8 months between arrest/indictment and trial/plea is about right for a non-complex criminal case in federal court, based on my experience.

There's much less of a backlog in federal criminal court compared to some states.

And in a simple and straightforward case like this there's not a need for significantly drawn-out pretrial motions/hearings, discovery, or trial prep.

I saw Judge Nepolotano comment about this case on Newsmax. His opinion was that her court was her domain and that she had every right to let someone out any door in it. I'm somewhat paraphrasing.

And he would be wrong.

It’s OUR court and we expect better. The judge is a temporary occupant

Dugan I hope goes to a Supermax or CECOT but let’s get the verdict into the judgement so she is a convicted felon.

I hope it was worth it to her to take sides with someone in the country illegally, put her freedom and career on the line all probably because she suffered from TDS. Hopefully this case will catch the attention of other judges that think they're above the law and that black robes excuses them from taking accountability for their actions.

Well color me surprised and impressed!

Get a change of venue, get her case out of Milwaukee as not to have any conflict of interests in that area. Let’s get this trial moved to somewhere nice. Like Texas.
