The globalists know exactly what they are doing. By forcing the middle and lower class into desperation, they hope to wield more power to step in and “make things right” through government control and overreach. We already see it happening in the US. As GP said, available resources for the common man are lessening. The impetus to sit back and do nothing for a “free” stipend is happening because the cost of success is increasing and being passed on to the consumer. Nothing would please the elite more (who would be insulated from the mayhem their policies and dictums produce by the wealth they have attained) than to see society collapse and increase the division and animosity that will surely cause attrition of the lesser humans and open the door to ever increasing governmental regulation and irreversible overreach.
The globalist elite have made it clear that they REQUIRE depopulation. They have spoken openly of it for a couple of decades now. But not within their rank and file. They do it from their multi-million dollar safe havens, the halls of power, and from behind walls of armed security. While trying to disarm the average, law abiding citizenry. I find that ironic.
