I remember Carlin doing that as a kid. He actually taught me what an Oxy Moron was.

My gut is saying it's a cheesy Nick Cage kinda situation like the Rock, or maybe a russian accent. My other brain cell is already asleep but I'll divert all available resources to solving it.

I'd ask the wife to run it through her intel database but she's busy picking her nose and trying to get ALL the dust out of the keyboard.

Accomplice, let me ask you: just what do you think a thread such as this might produce for you? Do you think someone is going to pop up here and reveal national security secrets, assuming that there is anything to be revealed? Do you know that all you would likely get is one of those pseudo-operators like that twit who blathered about "SigInt" and "RumCit" or whatever the fuck he was saying to try to impress us, pop up and vaguely state that he can't tell us anything (implying he actually knows things because he's a big "OpSec FucStic" secret agent)?

I'm sick of all the rumors about "something bad" happening this year. I'm sick of all the bullshit. I'm sick of every Goddamned thing that happens being viewed as being part of some kind of conspiracy.

I wouldn’t know if anybody responding was putting me on so I suppose it’s of little value. What inspired the thread is that a wealthy friend texted asking if I’d ever bought from a prepper food site online. This is totally not his style. The guy is 100% about his business, constant meetings, traveling constantly for work, etc. he’s not a gun guy or anything.

So when I asked what was inspiring him to get this stuff, he said his dad called saying somebody they know in the intelligence community strongly suggested he start preparing for “something big” this month. His dad is also not conspiratorial so it took him off guard. The dad is a retired CFO.

So then I messaged a journalist I know whose beat requires numerous intel/ military/ aerospace contacts and asked if he was hearing anything similar. He said that he was, but that they referenced April not March. He added some commentary that there were people who actually wanted the war and who he thought were deluded about their ability to win it decisively, etc.

I had heard at one point that conditions in the Taiwan straight were most conducive to an invasion in only 2 months of the year: April and October and obviously the rumors fit there also.

The recent AT&T outage, the volume of military aged Chinese men crossing the border, China likely wanting to take Taiwan on Biden’s watch, etc. all support the possibility of something going down.

So I figured I’d see if I could add an unreliable data point to the mix: strangers on the internet.

But a subsequent visit to Walmart revealed plentiful ammo leading me to think if anything is happening soon, word has not gotten out.

I was thinking that William F. Buckley coined the word “oxymoron”. Apparently he didn’t, although he often made use of them.

“… In modern literature, William F. Buckley Jr., a renowned American conservative author and founder of the “National Review” magazine, left a mark due to his eloquent speaking style and extensive vocabulary. He often included rhetorical devices and figures of speech, specifically oxymorons, to underscore critique opponents, points, or outline the complexities of social and political issues. The author is famous for quotes like, “An intelligent liberal is an oxymoron,” referring to his political stances. …”

Is Intel going to release a chip that will run the Apple M-series instruction set?

I’d be damned surprised if that happened.

There's an elderly distant in-law of an in-law who's first spouse apparently was in foreign intel ops, and their kids seem to be too. That elderly person doesn't seem to be changing any vacation plans....

Now I do think there are interesting times coming in the very near future, and it is pretty obvious what the top contenders might be.

We're upgrading our food, water, and other preps to better ride out supply issues or civil unrest. Our finances are currently girded against market disasters. There's nothing new in the kinds of challenges we might face, just a much higher probability we'll experience something very soon.

I misread this originally. I misread, “…saw Fenris …” and I thought, “Dang, that is serious!” Big Grin

Something took down some social media sites for a few hours today. These cos have a lot of tech talent on their rosters, so for them to be down for hours across that many users is notable.

I heard from another source today, that if the enemy takes down all the porn sites, we will be reduced to having to look for stashes of Hustler magazines out in the woods.

I'm pretty sure it's available on Sumerian cuneiform tablets and in Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Kristy Sawnson

Back to the thread at hand, I read that the Columbus Dispatch heard the Wall Street Journal learned from sources on last Thursday that Intel's Licking County, OH chip plant might be ready in late 2026:

"The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, said Thursday that the project isn't expected to be finished until late 2026." Link

It sounds pretty serious.

My cat told me I need to bolster my supplies of wet food; dry food; toys; and treats. He heard from neighbor kitty, shit's about to go down. Said forget gold and silver, Purina is going to be the real currency.
