With 1,250 horsepower and electrified all-wheel drive, ZR1X is a true American hypercar and the most advanced Corvette ever. I thought the model designation, Zora, was perfect both for the man it honors and just the look and sound of the name. ZR1X…does nothing for me.

My first Corvette experience came by way of a neighbor. When we were kids, this fella had a '62 he was restoring and I got a ride in it. Probably only 5-6 miles, but it was great fun. Mom was not impressed, probably because I didn't get permission before hopping in and going.
I haven't typically cared much for Vettes since, but that one did stick with me. When the C8 body came out, I thought "man, that's ugly!" For about a month, that is, just like when Nissan brought out the 300ZX back in '90 or so. And then something clicked. "Dang, that's sharp-looking!" is now the general statement in my head.
I got to drive a 2003 Anniversary Edition model a few weeks ago. I'm not sure a Vette could be may daily driver, but I'll say that with the C8 the interest has been renewed.

Dealership I worked for in college had a 03 Anniversary convertible, unsold. It stayed parked at the owner's house. I got to drive it once, from the dealership, back to his house. Shame it was an auto, though. Also got a very brief spin in a C6 Z06. Redlined it in first & that was enough for me. Oh, and I did the first make-ready on the first C6 ZR1 we sold. My buddy was working in the shop & was apprehensive about drilling the holes for the carbon side skirts.

My dad's worked for a few Chevrolet dealers, and he had the same question. How many dealers will actually have someone qualified to work on it. Not that most of these will even get driven enough to need service.

Not all Chevrolet dealers can sell Corvettes. In order to sell them the dealership needs to purchase the required tools and have Corvette trained technicians. It's one of the reasons our small Chevy dealer does not sell Corvettes. I think it's a great stipulation.
Have rode in the C8 and it is quite a car, wish my wallet was thick enough to buy one.

IMO, they are going to make the Corvette so out-of reach for buyers that they will kill it. Unless they hold the line on the base models. The C5 through C7 were really cool, and affordable enough for most enthusiasts to own one.

I have had a 66, 69 and the 78 which sets in the garage. They are easy to work on and the 69 had chrome rings which took 10K miles to seat. It had close to 400K miles when I sold it.
It needed a lot of work with the A-arms in back paper thin and the shifter really worn out while the engine used a quart of oil every 400 miles.
I was going to rebuild everything but I had little time due to work.

If you have the scratch to buy one, those things are not important....
and, many will never see much in the way of mileage, and several will be bought by utoobers and race the heck out of them, do stupid shit with them to get views and $$

My niece and her husband work for GM. She is the DRE for the ZR1 engine cover, ducts to the turbos and some hoses and brackets. Very smart young lady, she knows I've owned several Corvettes and am a huge fan, but she can't give me any inside information untils it is realeased to the public. I have a 2015 Z06 now with a paltry 650HP, I can't imagine almost double that horsepower !!

I think these could be roughly $200,000.
ZR-1 rings in at ~$175,000 plus the E-ray hardware ($25,000?) added on.
Entirely a guess on my part, but wouldn't it ring in at $148,000 cheaper than the (slower) Mustang GTD?
I think I'll stick with my $8,000 truck.
Anywho, I don't think they could legally call it the Zora as the trade name is currently under license by Nintendo.
