I haven’t been excited about much in a while.

Last purchase was a 2k11.

I’ve actually been selling a handful of guns lately.

Red dots, lights, slings, other accessories is all I’ve been buying.

Nothing interests me lately. The MP5 and Kimber is all I shoot anymore.

Should I just pay for some classes? Rapid defense is near me, anyone every been to their classes?

You could also think about customizing what you have.

In my case, converting a P227 and some Glocks to .38 Super.

Cross generational parts swaps for Desert Eagle.

Also imported a few pistols from various European countries.

It can only be as much fun as you want it.

Got 4 revolvers out for slight customization and tuning.

I’m enjoying researching holsters and finding the right one.

Just went a couple months trying to get the right setup for a light on the MP5.

I don’t NEED anything but I still like looking, I don’t even look anymore.

How about a stock? FXAIX? TSLA? AAPL? Retirement comes faster than you think.

All I know is I've had the absolute most fun shooting suppressed subsonic 9mm and .22 out of everything I've done in recent years. It's cheap, it's fun. I'm still chasing that rabbit and don't anticipate straying too far from there in the next 18 months or so. I'm going deep on suppressors.

USPSA and PCSL matches are a giggle as well. I went ahead and picked up a 1301 to have the whole "3 gun" thing rounded out, but more of an eye towards defensive/practical vs gamer setup. I slapped an Athlon 7-35X on my Bergara .308 and still need to make it out to some PRS matches. Got a friend who does a lot of them who's been giving me a hard time about it for the last nine months or so. Maybe get yourself out to some matches?

Otto I think most of us go through phases. Life has a tendency to interrupt our interests, time, and finances. It’s also no secret we can be some rather unhealthy enablers around here.

Have you lost interest in shooting altogether? Or just the kind of shooting you’ve been doing lately?

I’ll throw out a few suggestions.

Perhaps you could pick a revolver or two and focus all of your trigger time on improving 1st hits on target times from concealed. Or from a certain awkward position until you really start mastering that task. Start hitting paper plates at 5 yards for time, and work your way to hitting 3x5 cards at 15 yards.

How about the same scenario with your SBR’s. Awkward prone to weak side shots from a barrier. Buy yourself a relatively cheap shot timer and challenge yourself. It works for solo practice or who is gonna buy pizza that night. Track your times every session, try to keep the practice sessions consistent. Say twice a week for 4-8 weeks. It will give you something tangible to work towards.

Time a 2 shot, reload, two shot scenario. Track the distance and target size and only change difficulty level when you see your performance is consistent.

Set up ladder tests for your favorite caliber, bullet, powder combinations and track it! Heck you can even share your results here.

Or if need be, put the toys away for a while. Wait until a shooting buddy challenges you to something you can not resist. Or maybe just hang around the range sipping coffee and waiting until some young guy is getting frustrated with his shooting. Volunteers to spot his hits and pass on some advice.

I still really enjoy shooting. I just enjoy the SBRs and 9mm handguns right now.

Maybe a good shot timer and finally break down and pay for a range membership. Wish I had a good outdoor range near me.

I’ll keep an eye out for a training near me from a reputable person. My schedule makes it so hard to travel even one state away.

Can’t ever go wrong with ammo and or training.

As for gear I’ve always vacillated back and forth between powder burners and GOOD air guns. A higher end airgun ads a new dimension to shooting.

I'm in the downsizing phase, but as the above recommendations, may send out some for work, and working on sights for the remaining whose factory sights may or may not be best for me.

Regarding training, hell yea, would be cool to spring for something like that, for many the best money to spend on this little hobby.

I recommend you delve into guns of the 19th century - Civil War era to the 1880s or so. Lots of history in them and to me that's part of the fun.

Of course everyone has their tastes and preferences, but you might really like it. I know I do.

How is saving for that retirement property going?

A decades old police revolver like S&W Model 19. It's a cool throwback to 70s and 80s gun. It's fun and so unGlock.
