Have an old GE Profile refrigerator, TBX25PAXCRWW, which has its original crescent shaped cube icemaker in the freezer. Sometime last night a plastic wrapper on an item inside the freezer got bound up and wrapped itself around the icemaker's shaft which has the fingers that push the cubes out of the unit. I have no idea how long it was like that, but it had to have been hours and it couldn't turn during all that period. I managed to cut off the plastic and free the shaft, but the icemaker is still not turning, so I suspect either damage or a blown fuse (assuming it has one). I see a small white rectangular part labeled "5728" under the icemaker, and was thinking perhaps that's some sort of fuse, although it's not obvious how it comes out to be replaced if it is. Any suggestions on how to check the icemaker to figure out what to do to repair it, or should I think about replacing it with a similar unit, assuming they can still be found? Thanks for any assistance. | ||
