dbuck47I switched to black in my college days. Once in a blue moon, I will get a Mocha from Starbucks, but 99% of the time just dark black coffee.

USMCE4retiredLike Pipe Smoker, I started out young with Grammas' coffee (milk with coffee).
Drank it with cream until recently.
Since the Doc said I could try a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with water every morning instead of pills to reduce cholesterol I have been drinking it black. Guess what,...?, I like it. Like stated above, you taste unadulterated coffee and it is good.
although I am not from Seeatall I drink the vinegar with a straw. Missing teeth are worse than brown teeth.

OKCGeneI regularly drink coffee, strong hot and black.
I do not care for sugar and cream in my coffee.
Occasionally, just every so often, not regularly, I will add a little bit of local honey, or a little wee bit of butter.

kkinaI think I read that, in general, people's taste preferences goes from preferring sweet, when you are younger, to preferring bitter as you get older.
I'm still doing cream and sugar in my joe.

I started off drinking coffee like my Dad (1 creamer in a cup). Every time I had tried black it’d upset my stomach but the creamer seemed to neutralize the coffee enough my stomach was fine.
A few years ago, I went on a diet and cut the creamer. This time, no upset stomach and I could really taste the finer notes differentiating various coffees (eg Kona from Columbian). I actually like coffee more now that I drink it black.

OKCGene^^^^^^^ Yes and buying excellent coffee beans, or ground fresh for you to a proper ground, properly brewed in a quality coffee maker makes a HUUUGE difference.
Most people are so used to crappy convenience store and terrible truck stop coffee they have no idea what a really good cup of coffee tastes like and is a delightful pleasure to enjoy.

Try making your coffee with alkaline water. For me, it has reduced the occasional stomach upset and heartburn I experience when drinking coffee with light cream. I also think it does a better job extracting flavor from the coffee grounds.

Light roasted coffee does this to me, but a good dark roast isn't as acidic and doesn't seem to bother me.

villageidiotMy mother Storekeeper 1st Class Ishman taught me to drink black coffee quote " Hey ####@@@ drink it black or else". A very simple lesson in coffee selection made in Nov 1979 at Cape May NJ that still works for me.VI

craglawnmanorBoth my parents drank black coffee.
My dad drank black coffee throughout the day.
Two of my kids drink black coffee. Both in their early
20's, one son & one daughter.
Not me, I use a (potential cancer causing

) packet of
Sweet & Low in mine. I just haven't been able to embrace plain
black coffee.

GT-40DOCI have almost completely gotten away from drinking coffee, after "living on the stuff" for many, many years. When I do have a cup (cold weather), it is black, and HOT!!!
