When in doubt, head to the SF brain trust.....

OK, I have a shed with power (120v), that I'd like to have alarmed. This is a community shed that was thieved recently (lock cut w/bolt cutters), and the locks have since been upgraded. Motion sensor lights were added.

We are looking for a simple alarm system to set off a loud siren & strobe light if the shed is targeted again. Nothing fancy, no monitoring needed (it's close enough that if the alarm is raised, myself & my neighbors will hear it).
I'm seeing all kinds of alarms online, but what I need is:
1. 1-Door sensor
2. 1-Motion sensor
3. 1-Loud exterior siren
4. 1-Flashing exterior strobe light
5. 1-Loud interior siren (12'x12' shed).
6. 1-Keyed On-Off switch on the exterior.

Does such an alarm system kit exist? Or would I have to design and build one myself?

I have found a Honeywell starter kit that I could install with an internal keyboard & delay:

http://www.homesecuritystore.c...kit-v20p60starterkit

I would need to add door contacts and exterior siren/strobe.

Any ideas/opinions?

Thanks!

Have you looked at SimpliSafe? I use them and have it monitored, but you don’t have to. I built my own kit to get exactly what I needed.

This would be very easy to accomplish with 12 volt equipment, very economically, except for the key switch. 12 volt systems use key fob remotes, and you could have duplicates made. You could use a computer power supply, or if you want battery backup I'd use a small lawn mower battery and a smart charger. Tell me how many remotes you need, and if that would work I'd be happy to tell you what to get.

Just for fun, I put this together for you:

Buy two of this alarm with two remotes for $40 each, or $80. This gives you the extra siren you want and two extra remotes (and a spare alarm):

https://www.amazon.com/AUDIOVO...2&keywords=car+alarm

Strobe for $15:

https://www.amazon.com/Emergen...12+volt+strobe+light

Set of 5 magnetic contact switches for $18:

https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-...switch+normally+open

If you want a motion sensor, this has good reviews for $17:

https://www.amazon.com/BOSCH-S...tail#customerReviews

Lawn tractor battery, or similar, should be no more than $40.

Smart charger for $30, which won't burn up your battery:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004...pa_dk_detail_0?psc=1

These alarms come with an impact sensor, which could be useful to mount on a door, as it would trigger if someone was beating on it trying to break in. Remotes would cost you more individually than the alarm itself, so just buy an extra alarm for $40 for every two remotes you need, and you'll get extra parts for spares.

I come up with $200, and that would be everything you need except some basic 18 gauge wire and connectors/screws. This would absolutely do what you want, and would be very reliable (can't vouch for the motion sensor). This would give you 4 keyfob remotes to arm/disarm, and would have a backup battery that would run it for days in the event of a power loss.

Let me know if you have any questions.
