I received a WML. Normally wouldn't buy something like this but it was a gift. My WML are Surefire or Streamlight.

I received an Olight Baldr Pro. Seems like decent build quality. Throws a nice illumination and nice green dot.

But never heard of this brand before. And not something I'd buy given made in PRC>

For those familiar with this product:
1) it's a toy - don't intend to use in serious situations.
2) it's okay for the money; okay to use as a last resort (BUG or something). Assume it will fail but okay to under worst case. Or use for training / classes.
3) Good to go - serious light for serious conditions.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't consider Olight an off brand but the handheld lights I've had weren't 100% reliable so I don't own them anymore.
I personally don't buy Olight anymore, but I'm sure you'll get many positive responses.

It's a $150 light/green laser combo intended for serious "professional" work. Olight is a fairly major brand. Of course it's unknown whether it would live up to its claims.

Maybe mount it on a favorite range gun and see how it holds up before risking it on serious duty?

Your streamlight was made in China.

Olight is not an off brand. They are legit.

I bought my ex an O-light and I was impressed with it. Liked it better than her...

Olight is good to go. I have a couple of them and they have been strong and reliable.

Thanks. Since I have it, I’ll find some use for it. Good to know it’s not just crap. How well will it (the mount) hold zero on a 20? Good enough for monsters in the woods? Green dot might be useful on a bear. Btw, would the strobe be useful for wildlife encounters?

Use an OLight H1R headlamp and their S2R handheld flashlight daily.
For the last couple weeks the H1R has been running through 2 rechargeable batteries every day! Heavy use with no problems.

I have the PL-Pro weapon light (same thing without lazer) on the 226. Only thing I find to be of concern is the rechargeable batteries will tend to drain while sitting. Shortenening or even keeping the light from illuminating. You must keep up with them and keep them charged.

I haven't tried regular batteries to see if they will eliminate the problem yet.

** Has only been an issue with the weapon light. The hand held and head lamp have been GREAT.

I'll second (or third, or... 6th?) OLight not being an off-brand.

I have several in my collection and bought one of their M3XS UT Javelot units for the farm. They claim it reaches to 1K yards, and damned if it doesn't. From the house, I can really light up a vehicle at the entrance to the 1/8 mile driveway or spot deer at nearly 1K yards in the back, back fields (too small to see anything in the dark but their eyes). Very impressive.

No reliability problems from mine, but I did meet someone once who had trouble with one of their tiny ($10) keyring AAA models falling apart on him.

If you're not confident that your WML is sufficient for your needs, I'd be happy to take it off your hands for you. Wink

I only buy O-light. Their support for the community is unmatched.

When the guy who owned Going Gear died, they donating all online sales for one day (not just profits) to his family. Well over $60k.

They are quality lights and plenty of people use them for carry. I have several WMLs, a main carry light and a keychain light. Never had any problem with any of them.

They also support a whole bunch of Guntubers as well. IV8888, sootch, jerry and a bunch more.

Also, Surefire LED emmitters are made in China these days. That's the heart of the flashlight.

This was my experience with Olight. I bought one, and it was never 100% reliable. It was a good light when it worked, but occasionally it just didn't want to turn on. I ended up breaking the light completely later (my own fault this time) and never tried another. I may just have gotten a bad example, but it soured me on the brand.

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."
