Thanks for posting this as I will know to leave them alone now and to not destroy the sacks.
Now I really want to locate a sack and try to watch it when it comes alive in the spring.
We have been seeing lots of green lizards and green frogs here which is also cool.
We have a very large number of gecko's which are kinda nasty. Hate finding the rubbery body parts after the cats have tortured them to peaces.


This is why I posted. Normally I probably would have just crushed it “thinking” it was bad. Now with the technology of identification apps it was cool to learn what it was and then later when I saw the Praying Mantis itself, I knew the app was correct. They sell them online if you want to release them in a specific spot. If you want to relocate one, just wait until it has fully hardened, a few weeks after laying, and the place in the exact same direction it was layed so the babies release correctly. My tree will have a ton of hungry babies come Spring!!!!
