Linux Question
well my home PC has been acting weird the past day or so - its been randomly powering itself off

so early this morning I started downloading everything off the machine and dumping to a terabyte drive

probably by tomorrow I will power up my Linux box - its running Mint (forget which version right now)

what are people using as an email client?

Probably most are using Thunderbird. I don't, because I find it too busy. I use a faster, lighter app called claws-mail. But that isn't w/o its flaws, either.

Mailspring. I like it’s features and the interface is intuitive..

I still prefer Evolution on my linux machine. It's extremely full featured and works well with multiple email accounts and my Google Calendar.

What Linux Mint came with ... Thunderbird. My favorite Thunderbird app, FireTray, no longer works with latest Thunderbird version though and isn't being developed Frown

Sorry can't help as I just log in to my provider's web site to get my email. I use Linux Mint Mate.

I use Linux Mint 19.1 on my laptop. While Thunderbird is the most obvious choice for email I stick to Gmail and Protonmail web services for my email.

I faced this recently with my conversion of an old Dell Vostro 1000 (augmented with a new SSD) from XP to Mint Mate 19.1.

I still use my Win10 desktop as my primary system with Thunderbird my email client. I also use the Android 8.0 native email client on my smartphone to access email when out and about. I have it set to leave mail on my ISP deferring to my desktop to D/L and then remove mail.

Decided I didn't need the redundancy of Thunderbird on my Linux laptop. Instead I've simply bookmarked the ISP email site in Firefox where I can read / send email if needed just like with my smartphone without having to configure and sync T'Bird. Simple, uncomplicated, and works for me with my equipment.

But were I to be required to press the laptop into more active service, yeah T'Bird would be my solution. Big Grin

And FWIW with upgrades here's what I've ended up with from a laptop purchased back in 2008. It's pretty snappy with the SSD and Linux! Big Grin

Real men use mutt.

I, however, use Thunderbird.

Claws is another good GTK based email client.

As a long time (20 years) KDE user, I also am partial to Kmail, but if you're using Cinnamon, you probably don't want to install all of the KDE libraries just to run your email client.
