Here's what I have. A piece of brass 2 5/16" diameter and 22 5/16" long, a fire pole to be exact. It's a piece of the pole that used to stand in the first department I used as a volunteer in the 80's. I'll admit the first time I slid down it was a bit unnerving. A friend sent me a piece of it, he got it when it was removed in the 90's. This is the item the USPS lost in the mail a couple of months ago and later found, a two week trip in Priority Mail.

I'm looking for a stand similar to a rifle stand that would support a rifle horizontally. Those are offset, I need one the same depth both ends, prefer a u shaped cutout to support the pole. I'm no good at woodworking so making one is out of the question.

Anybody have any ideas if there is such an item commercially available?

.

Considering how much this means to you, I suggest you locate a custom shop that will make exactly the type of display you want.

This company can make a wall mounted case behind glass, a table top stand, a floor stand, using just about any kind of wood and finish that matches the décor of the room it will be displayed in.

There are several companies, search for one in your area that you can visit but visit several website for these companies to find ideas of what impresses you most.

Similar companies:

I noticed you're in Michigan, as an alternative to a wooden rack ~ why not sheet metal?

There are a lot of custom automotive body shops that can fabricate a sheet metal rack painted fire truck red with gold pin-stripe stating the department's name, your old truck number, your name and date of hire. Heck, you can even include a hook to hang a fire helmet off the display!

So...you just want some “u” shaped hooks to support your pole for display?

I was actually just on amazon today looking for what I think you want for holding rifles to a wall.

There’s lots of them...ornate and plain
